In my first visit with Dr. Millstein I was immediately able to gain peace of mind. Not only was the x-ray technician and staff incredibly pleasant and efficent but, the images were immediatly available for the doctor to analyse and discuss with me. Dr. Millstein's professional expertise and down to earth communication skill is only supassed by his kind interaction with me as a patient.

My husband had right hip replacement surgery in June 2019, and Dr. Wassef and his staff did an amazing job. He was up an walking 2 weeks after surgery. My husband says Dr. Wassef is the best!

Dr. Khurana is the best surgeon and human being too. Don't hesitate. Doesn't matter if you have to wait or if staff takes time to get back to you. They are very busy helping others and will get back with you.

You probably shouldn’t choose a surgeon based on their winning personality, but I may just have to. Full disclosure - he also came highly recommended so . . .

Brillant and reasonable. Clearly this man has the trust of his patients and peers and it is well deserved. I look forward to working with Dr. Bhalla with good results. As with the many who I spoke to prior to making the decision to consult Dr. Bhalla, I would recommend him without reservation. He is a rock star in his field.

Went through alot a pain from having a bulging disc for over a year. I came to DR bhalla for a second opinion from my previous DR. I liked the way he treated me and gave me answers I was looking for . Treated me with respect and I followed through with surgery on L4-L-5 decectomy . I am no longer having pain shooting down my leg thank GOd for Dr Bahalla. He is the best . I would like to thank him and his staff for the treatment and all the hard work.

Dr. Combs is very informative and friendly. Made me feel like I was actually being listened to and would definitely go back if needed.
Christopher Combs, MD
Dr. Bhalla is very personable and will listen if you have solid information. Considering I am probably not the most patient patient he has been very accommodating and always makes time in his busy schedule to talk for a few minutes. He is very kind and compassionate. I am still recovering post-op spine surgery and Dr. Bhalla took me on as a referral from another surgeon who was not sure he could give me the best care and treatment. I know my case was not the easiest so my apologies if I caused any problems. All in all, Dr. Bhalla and his team at Memorial Orthopedic Spine are amazing. And thanks to Physician's Assistant Makell Murphy PA-C who has been great and answers all my dumb questions that I was silly to Google in the first place.

I hate doctors, but I like this one. His demeanor is calm and professional but without being uptight. I only saw him for a consultation to go to physical therapy so it was a short visit but so far I'm happy.

I was fortunate to be able to get a very quick appointment, and was very, very professionally greeted by front office staff and assisting medical professionals as well. Dr. Millstein remembered me from 9 years ago too at his former practice, which was unexpected. His demeanor was professional and very personal too. My knee issue was resolved very nicely too, which made me very happy because the downtime from playing tennis will be minimal. Very happy.

I located Dr Bae's name during a visit with a man in a shop near Las Cruces NM. His wife had been to see Dr Bae and recommended him. This man lives in Whitefish Montana and I do not know his name. Wish I did so I could thank him. We drove to Santa Monica June 3 and met with the staff of The Spine Institute and came away very impressed and are scheduling my surgery for June 18. Dr. Bae was very helpful and fully described the work needed and the planned schedule and even offered suggestions for a place to stay nearby the hospital and his offices. I look forward to this operation. We arrived June 17, checked int Ambrose Hotel and the operation went as planned at St Johns. Was in hospital 2 days due to slight complication during procedure. Stayed in hotel nearby until June 24 when we met with Dr Bae and Dr Cano and were cleared to return home. Drove back to SF Bay Area. Stopped using Oxycodone after leaving Santa Monica and then Tylenol within a week and then only one Tylenol at bedtime. Numbness in lower body is nearly gone but comes and goes as expected. Local home nurse and PT were set up through The Spine Institute and they are headquartered here in Orinda. All visiting assistance has been wonderful. My wife was a wonderful nurse and recovery placed a lot of work on her that I had shared so it must be a team effort when serious operations such as back repair are considered. I had a Foley in use for 3 weeks and a complication occurred in that I went into septic shock and was hospitalized for a few days at John Muir in Walnut Creek. At first it was thought my back incision was infected so focus for 2 days was on that possibility, but it turned out I had an extreme bladder infection from the Foley. I setup a local doctor to perform the 6 weeks review in order to save another trip to LA and that was OK with Drs Cano and Bae. All was well. Walked as much as possible, first on my deck then around a local lake. Now walk a mile easily but slowly and use either my Hurrycane or a walking stick. One issue I had was the inability to release urine. Several doctors said they thought this was not related to my nerve pinch in my back. I felt it was. Turns out we were both right since after use of Flomax and the operation and after 3 months working with a local urologist I am back to normal. It has been 3-1/2 months now and slowly my legs are regaining sensitivity. It seems slow but with PT my balance and strength are improving. I feel the effort to work with The Spine Institute in Santa Monica was well worth the extra effort required.

Felt really comfortable with his staff and him! He took the time to really talk to me about my options. My case is complicated because three different joints are affected. He specializes in knees (which both of mine need work) but my hip is critical! He asked did I have the time to see his partner, who is a hip specialist and one of the top Docs at Cedars. Even though the office was backed up due to the rain, he made sure I got new xrays so his partner could see me right then! Awesome, because the other CS hip specialist didn't have an opening until mid March. So now I am looking at getting my surgery with the next 4-5 weeks vs 4-5 months! YEAH!!!

Hands down some of the best medical care I have ever received. I've had back problems for almost 13 years, and I've seen dozens of the top specialists and surgeons in the Los Angeles area throughout the years. I came to Dr. Khurana in August with excruciating sciatica due to a severe herniation at L4L5 and moderate herniation at L5S1. I had had a previous microdiscectomy at those same levels almost 10 years prior which made things a little trickier, and the three surgeon opinions I got did not all agree on what to do with me. Dr. Khurana spent probably almost an hour with me in-office, and then another 30-45 minutes with me on the phone talking me through my options and what he would recommend if it were him or a family member going through the situation. Never once did he tell me I should see HIM for the procedure, only what he thought would be the smartest and safest course of action for me. Ultimately, I ended up scheduling a repeat microdiscectomy with him and am so happy with my decision. His office is easy to get ahold of, he is consistently on-time (even early!), and made the surgery scheduling process absolutely seamless. Dr. Khurana's PA, Elaine, could not possibly be more knowledgable or helpful. They've both been incredibly accessible to me both before and after surgery, answering all 1000+ of my questions thoroughly. Dr. Khurana does his surgeries at DISC, which felt like I was getting royal treatment compared to the two surgeries I've had at Cedars Sinai hospital. From my nurses to my anesthesiologist, I felt like both the facilities and the team Dr. Khurana uses were the absolute best.

I went to Dr. Bae after finding him through an online search for a second opinion. I am so lucky that I had him operate instead of the doctor that I saw before him. I had spinal stenosis and spinal decompression surgery with a spinal fusion was the standard procedure for my diagnosis. Dr. Bae told me about a clinical trial that I might qualify for that could be performed instead of fusion. I qualified and had the surgery. He performed the surgery at an outpatient hospital and I walked out the same day. I was able to drive in a week and returned to work very part time in two weeks. I am able to do so many things I couldn't do before the surgery and am seeing more and more improvement in the four months since the surgery. I had complete confidence in Dr. Bae's abilities and would highly recommend him to anyone that has spinal problems. He is the best!!!

I thought Dr. Millstein was very nice, personable. He was very truthful with my situation, and gave me choices on what kind of treatments I had to choose from. I was impressed.

Dr.Millstein and his staff are top notch. Dr Millstein performed knee surgery on me about 7 years ago. Our kids have also seen him a few times for sports related foot and ankle issues. Highly recommend for kids and adults. Just took my son in AGAIN--both our kids are pretty active (one is in a travel sport) and tend to have flare ups--sprains etc. We feel it's always best to get the best professional opinion. Glad Dr. Millstein is able to fit us in and help!
