I’m 6 weeks post-op from a surgical hip dislocation surgery performed by Dr. Ramkumar. With this being my first surgery, I was very nervous. Dr. Ramkumar is a one of a kind master of his craft. I can’t say enough good things about the man, but I hope my story sheds some light on his skill, character, & may help someone else who like I did, feels confused, afraid, & is unsure of the future before them. I met Dr. Ramkumar during the hardest time in my life, & yet trusting him as my surgeon has surpassed all expectations. I can honestly say his guidance and support have been the best experience I’ve had dealing with the US medical system in my entire life. I’m a 25 year old professional multi-discipline extreme sports athlete. (Cliff Jumping, Surfing, Snowboarding, Parkour, Freediving, etc.) This year, after over a decade of training, I suffered the worst injury of my career. I fully tore BOTH my ACLs (and a bit of meniscus). The tears happened 3 months apart & although I had an MRI, the first ACL tear had been missed by a previous physician which is what eventually led to the other knee getting injured in the same way. When I walked into Dr. Ramkumars office to get the second knee injury looked at he felt both of my knees by hand and without even seeing the MRI yet, told me he was confident I had torn both. After looking at my MRIs he immediately spotted the tears. He’s new, but he’s cutting edge, doing techniques that a lot of the older surgeons aren’t, because they’re more comfortable with the techniques they learned back in the day. He broke down my injury & the details of my recommended surgery in English instead of usual medical jargon, told me with confidence he could get me back to being an elite athlete again, & I’ll never forget what he said after suggesting the patellar tendon graph… “listen man this is the Ferrari of ACL replacement surgeries. I’m gonna fix you up” Since then Dr. Ramkumar has been attentive & invested in my successful recovery. Texting me with updates, checking in every week & giving me loads of advice. Since I’m one of the few Bi lateral ACL tear patients around, (meaning I tore both at the same time) he went the extra mile to consult colleagues in the east coast with more experience to make sure he had as much information as possible before recommending anything to me. I have felt confident in every choice he’s made, I’ve now done the first surgery, and am already a week ahead of my recovery timeline, 20 days post surgery I’m walking around semi-normal, 90° flexation, full extension/toe touching, and getting exponentially better each day. I have no doubt that in proper time & consistent PT I will be back to the level I was before any of this. I couldn’t recommend someone higher if you’re suffering from a hip or knee injury, especially if you’re an athlete where a full 100% recovery is vital to pursuing your passion & returning to what you love most in the world.

The Team of Dr. Garabekyan and his Medical Assistant Zohra are like no other. I was in denial of the seriousness of my hip pain. He was highly recommended by a friend. During my initial visit Dr. Garabekyan spent time explaining what was causing my hip pain and provided clarification of treatment options. We both knew that this would be a surgical case. He was patient enough with me to work on my schedule and not push surgery until I had time off from work. Now to Zohra, she is amazing! Had multiple issues with my insurance company approving imaging and the actual surgery, but she worked thoroughly to get everything approved in time. I am now almost two-months post-op and OMG wish I had heard of Dr. Garabekyan years ago. I no longer have pain in my hip! He's a godsend!!! Not to mention his work ethic, bedside manner, and how much he truly cares for each patient. 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone having issues with their hips

Dr. Wassef is AMAZING! He is so kind and caring, I’ve never meet a Dr like him. His whole team is the BEST! I feel so blessed that I was able to have him do my hip revision. He did a fantastic job, much much better than I had expected. I had my first hip replacement done 4 months prior at Hoag Hospital, it dislocated twice after 4 months of healing and PT. Nightmare!! We learned that our daughter would likely need to have PAO surgery to correct the congenital hip dysplasia of her left hip in the summer of 2019. She found Dr. Garabekyan online and came to her dad and I (both physicians in Indiana) and asked if we could talk to him. At the time, I thought of the idea of going all the way to California to have the surgery was a long shot. I reached out to Zohra, who put us in contact with Dr. Garabekyan. He took the time to meet with my husband and I over the phone and answered all of our questions and concerns. He had a second meeting with our daughter to address all of her questions. We read his research and papers published on the CU-PAO and were convinced that he was who we wanted to do her surgery. With the way Dr. Garabekyan talks to his patients about the mechanics of the hip, we were assured that this is his passion and he is very skilled at what he does. Our daughter had a hip scope in late June of 2020 and her PAO a week later. Her recovery has been amazing and working with Dr. G was our best decision. We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Garabekyan, Zohra, and his staff.

I highly Dr. Garabekyan and the staff that work there -- it is a welcoming environment and the office building is in a convenient, nice location. I had been having hip pain for about a year from a workout injury before I decided to go in. We did x-rays and I also ended up doing an MRI to get a closer, more detailed look at what's going on with my hip (it's a labral tear) and Dr. Garabekyan was able to describe to me exactly what's going on. I'm going to try doing physical therapy with someone he recommended and see if that helps fix the issue (fingers crossed). Otherwise, if a procedure is absolutely necessary I will be visiting again.

Need a new hip?? STOP! GO DIRECTLY TO DR. WASSEF! I was not an easy case. Lots of prior surgeries and scar tissue. He was so excited to fix me... and he did an AMAZING job. SUPER easy surgery, he has a great staff around him and I felt loved even during this pandemic! His nurse texted me daily for support, he reached out to make sure I was good. He gave me my life back and made the entire experience WELL WORTH IT! Please see him before you consider anyone else. He is simply the best there is.

My spinal stenosis is severe, but I just wasn't ready for a back surgery so soon after having both hips replaced. Dr. Bhalla and I proceeded with the less invasive Spinal/Epidural which unfortunately, did not give me the improvement I was looking for. When, and only when I was ready, did we proceed with a Laminectomy and Diskecotomy. I am exactly 1 week past surgery and the future looks bright! So glad to be in such good hands. Will report back after all healing is done...Five Gold Stars from me!!!

If you need back surgery, you cannot find a better surgeon than Dr. Bae!! My diagnosis was spinal stenosis. My symptoms were pain in my right hip and leg, plus muscle weakness. I am 78 years old and was nervous about back surgery, so I opted for steroid injections in my back, and this reduced the pain for a couple of months, but did nothing to help the weakness. Then, four months ago, I had been sitting on my couch and as I went to stand up, I leaned over to one side and must have twisted my back, when suddenly I was in immense pain and was unable to move my right foot! I went to the emergency room and had an MRI and was told I needed surgery! This is when I called Dr. Bae's office and was told to send my MRI disc and was given an immediate appointment after talking to Dr. Bae's assistant. I saw Dr. Bae on Friday, and watched him review my MRI - his comment was "wow, you need to have surgery, and we can do it on Tuesday!" I was sent nearby for an immediate second MRI and giveen my pre-op instructions for checking in to St. John's that Tuesday. I walked out the next morning with no pain. My leg weakness is steadily getting better with therapy and I was able to return to playing badminton in 2 months! Dr. Bae has literally saved my way of life. I could not walk without a walker when I had my surgery. Now I am walking my Border Collie and playing badminton!

After experiencing many years of hip pain and immobility due to an unknown hip deformity, he was able to determine the cause, repair and reshape my hips. These past five years have been the most difficult in my life. I’ve gone through over 10-15 pelvic mris, failed numerous biologic meds, lost my career, and started to lose myself. I’m now able to walk longer periods without excruciating pain and limping. Felt really comfortable with his staff and him! He took the time to really talk to me about my options. My case is complicated because three different joints are affected. He specializes in knees (which both of mine need work) but my hip is critical! He asked did I have the time to see his partner, who is a hip specialist and one of the top Docs at Cedars. Even though the office was backed up due to the rain, he made sure I got new xrays so his partner could see me right then! Awesome, because the other CS hip specialist didn't have an opening until mid March. So now I am looking at getting my surgery with the next 4-5 weeks vs 4-5 months! YEAH!!!

I hold Dr. Garabekyan in the highest regard possible. In the last four months, he performed two surgeries on me: a hip replacement surgery on my right side, and arthroscopic surgery of my right knee. He's direct and explains things clearly -- and is never condescending! I frequently recommend him to friends and colleagues. Additionally, his staff at the front desk and the technicians are all friendly, professional and efficient. Recently, the front desk found a way to squeeze me in for an appointment because I was experiencing pain, even though the schedule was unusually packed as Dr Millstein had been in vacation.
