When I arrived for my first appointment I entered the front desk area, it was evident that everyone and everything was well organized. I arrived early, as I am a new patient, and provided notes and images of recent MRIs and CT scan. The front desk staff was professional and personable. Before my appointment time, the X-ray technician came for me to take a routine spine image. He has a great sense of humor, and quickly completed the X-ray. He also escorted me to the patient room. The Doctor's assistant arrived almost immediately and asked some routine questions regarding my current symptoms and pain level. Dr. Khurana arrived at about 5 minutes after my scheduled time. We discussed my past history, and he reviewed the recent MRI and CT images I had provided. He offered a surgical solution and discussed/explained how it would be accomplished while showing me on the images what would be done. I was treated with the utmost courtesy and respect by everyone. I thank everyone associated with my appointment for making this first visit a pleasure. Revision L5-S1, posterior decompression and extension of fusion to pelvis was scheduled for August 5, 2024. When I arrived for surgery, it was clear that the admitting staff was well organized and professional. There was a sense of calm which reduced any anxiety I had. I was escorted to my room in a timely manner by one of the nurses. Almost as soon as I had changed into a hospital gown, Dr. Khurana and the Anesthesiologist came in to discuss the procedure, medications, expectations, etc. I was treated with the utmost respect as we discussed the medications to which I am allergic or highly sensitive. In short, I cannot take narcotics or opiods for pain, which was a challenge for the medical team. However, my requests were honored, and I did very well. In addition, two of my best friends "stood in" for my family who were unavailable. They were treated with the highest regard and were updated on my condition as though they were my family. I was released to go home the afternoon of August 6 with routine post-op instructions. My post-op appointment with Dr. Khurana was September 20, 2024. I am making good progress, and I am very thankful for Dr. Khurana's expertise and willingness to address my spine issues. The entire staff at DOCS Surgical Hospital is exceptional!! The nurses were quickly available when needed, but did not "hover". Without exception, this was the best surgical experience of my life, and this was the 7th on my spine.

My partial knee replacement with Dr. Prem Ramkumar was a great experience. The entire team was exceptional from the initial consultation to post-op care. Call back questions were taken care of in a timely manner. I had no bruising, I’m 4 weeks post-op and walking without a walker or cane. I no longer have knee pain and started walking around my neighborhood. I’m extremely happy and would recommend Dr. Ramkumar.

Dr Sanjay Khurana is an amazing spine surgeon. He did my lower lumbar spinal fusion surgery 7 weeks ago and I am very happy with the results. It has been a true pleasure having Dr Khurana as my surgeon. He is so talented, kind, smart, and professional. A real class act! UPDATE: Just recently on August 14 of 2025, it was one year since my back surgery with Dr. Khurana. I feel amazing! I’ve been going on 7 mile hikes with steep inclines in the mountains for the last three months. With no discomfort or pain whatsoever. I’m training and working out like I always did. Every day I’m grateful for how successful this surgery has been for me. And that’s why I came on here to add to my review. I followed all my preop and postop protocol precisely. I do eat super healthy and I know that helped my body heal well. I also started walking regularly as soon as I could following my surgery. I’m forever grateful to Dr. Khurana. He literally changed my life! I’m so happy! 🙏🏼

I’m so incredibly grateful that doctors like Ramkumar exist, someone who took the time to look over my dad’s unique case. My dad’s hip replacement only two weeks post op has already changed his life. Seeing him in pain for the past 4 years has been incredibly heartbreaking and seeing how much his quality of life has improved is such little time is something I’ll forever thank Dr. Ramkumar and is team for

I had my second hip arthroscopy with Dr. Ramkumar in April 2025 for cam impingement and a labral tear - and I can genuinely say this experience changed my life. Having already gone through one hip, I knew what recovery could be like, but the second time with Dr. Ramkumar’s approach felt smoother, more focused, and incredibly effective. His knowledge, precision, and support before and after surgery made a huge difference. As of today, just a few months post-op, I’m walking 20,000 steps a day, pain-free - and I’m regularly doing 250 lb squats at the gym. My strength, mobility, and overall quality of life are better than they’ve been in years. If you’re considering hip arthroscopy - especially for bilateral or repeat procedures - you’re in the best hands with Dr. Ramkumar. I can’t thank him enough.

Dr. Ram is hands down the best! He’s so down to earth, truly listens, and has an incredible bedside manner. From our very first appointment, it felt like we had known him forever. That connection is a bonus! but the real blessing was how well my husband’s hip surgery went. His recovery has been smooth, he doesn’t need physical therapy, and he’s healing great! What really blew us away was the level of care. At my husband’s post-op appointment, Dr. Ram told us that he had actually been thinking about my husband while laying in bed one night after a long day of surgeries. He emailed Stephanie late that night to get him in sooner—and even personally emailed me at 10 PM to follow up. Who does that? That’s next-level care. The surgery was moved 15 days sooner than originally scheduled, and we had to get all the paperwork and pre-op done within 24 hours—and Stephanie made it happen! She works wonders. That alone speaks volumes about this office, the staff is amazing! Stephanie deserves a special shout out! (Hi Stephanie!) My husband loves Dr. Ram and tells everyone about him. We honestly feel like we’ve made a new friend. We’re beyond grateful. Thank you, Dr. Ram 🙏🏽 and team—we love you and will refer you to anyone needing hip or knee care. C. Milla

Courteous front office staff. Minimal wait. Post op X-ray done, friendly X-ray tech. PA saw me first, did not rush and answered all my questions. (PA Bri has been very responsive via email in the interim before this latest appt). MD saw me next, did not rush and answered remaining questions. Back office staff will handle my work leave and EDD and PT prescription. Best of all, the unrelenting sciatica pain for the past 6 mos is gone. I did not wait to do the procedure, though I didn’t want to do it, and I think that made the difference for a good outcome. I have diminishing post op pain and increase in activity (6 weeks post op) as the weeks go on. Very relieved this is over and grateful for the good results.
Sanjay Khurana, MD
I am post op 6 months. Dr. Ramkumar and his staff took care of me from start to finish with knowledge, professionalism and kindness. My hip had been causing me a lot of pain for several years. Sleeping, walking and sitting were all hard for me. Diagnosing my condition and explaining the process of surgery and recovery were key. Everything went seamlessly. I am thrilled with the pain-free life I now enjoy and would highly recommend it to others.

Dr. Bhalla has done a wonderful job treating my spine issues. Post-op I've been able to regain so much mobility and energy.

Dr. Estess is wonderful and thorough! My knee pain came on quickly and was very severe. We discussed a Cortizone shot and decided to move forward with it so I could enjoy my Fourth of July while taking it easy. I had an MRI on my knee 24 hours after I saw her. My follow up is Tuesday (MRI diagnosis) for a game plan. Until then, I have been following doctor’s orders to take it easy. I am so grateful we were able to take my pain down a bit so I could enjoy my vacation. The entire team at the office are friendly and caring! I highly recommend Dr. Estess for your care!
Allyson Estess, MD
Post surgery follow up visit. Was seen in a timely manner and given ample time with Dr. Khurana without the feeling of rushing to his next patient.

I'm writing to share my incredibly positive experience with Dr. Prem Ramkumar, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip replacements. My journey to finding him began with a concerning visit to my regular orthopedist, Dr. Vance Eberly. After months of increasing hip pain, and having reached my target weight for surgery, X-rays revealed the extent of the damage was beyond Dr. Eberly's scope of practice. This led to my referral to Dr. Ramkumar. Initially, I sought out a surgeon specializing in the anterior approach to hip replacement, a method known for its faster recovery and reduced limitations. My own research, combined with Dr. Eberly's recommendation, pointed me towards Dr. Ramkumar. His impressive credentials and overwhelmingly positive patient reviews confirmed he was the right choice. From my first consultation, I was impressed by Dr. Ramkumar's thoroughness. He took detailed X-rays, patiently explained the complexities of my condition, and clearly outlined the surgical procedure he proposed. His calm and reassuring demeanor greatly eased my anxieties. He confirmed that I was an ideal candidate for a total hip replacement, and we scheduled the surgery. The surgery itself was approximately four to five hours long, followed by a night of understandably significant post-operative pain. However, Dr. Ramkumar's dedication extended beyond the operating room. He visited me the following day, demonstrating genuine concern for my progress. Remarkably, by the second day post-op, I was already ambulating to the bathroom with a walker and managing stairs independently – prompting my discharge that same day. Following his precise post-operative instructions, including a tailored physical therapy program outlined on his website and meticulously executed by his skilled therapist, my recovery exceeded all expectations. Eighty-eight days post-surgery, I’m now walking one to two miles daily and continuing my rehabilitation exercises with continued strength and mobility gains. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Ramkumar. His expertise, coupled with his compassionate approach, made the entire process significantly less daunting than I anticipated. The nearly pain-free surgery and astonishingly rapid recovery are testaments to his surgical skill and commitment to patient care. If you are facing a hip replacement, I urge you to consider Dr. Ramkumar. He truly is exceptional. Sincerely, M. Colasurdo

I have never had a major injury up until a few months ago. I was in denial after hurting my knee while playing slow pitch softball, but when I finally got myself to the doctor it was confirmed that I had a complete tear of the ACL and lateral meniscus. After meeting with Dr Ramkumar I let him know that I needed to have him fix me up quick because I had a full summer ahead with my 4 kids. After our first meeting I was told to build up my quad muscles to assist in my recovery. 3 weeks after our first meeting I had surgery, and just 3 days later I was out walking around on my crutches to cheer my son on while he ran a mile fun run. Within a week my pain was gone, of course my body was healing so discomfort is expected. One week after surgery my physical therapist was able to bend my knee (without pain, but some discomfort) to over 100°! At 4 weeks post op I was walking without my crutches or my knee brace. I am nearly 6 weeks post op and I am walking normally and am eagerly and patiently excited to start running around and getting back to the old me! This recovery process has been unexpectedly smooth but I have done the work and am ever so gracious to Dr Ramkumar and his team. On the surgical table I asked his team to let him know I want to be able to run faster and beat my son in a race, so I’ll be checking back in with that verdict!

Choosing a Spine surgeon is very important. Especially to select. the right one for you condition. Dr Khurana is certainly one of the most experienced and well trained spine/neurosurgeons. . Having been operated on by Dr Khurana 7 years ago, all my follow up visits have been easily made and each time received his personal attention. He carefully explains what the MRI or Xray or EMG test showed. Dr Khurana is not an alarmist and I appreciate that. As we all age, follow up is very important. I had to have another operation to relieve the terrible pain which restricted my walking. Now V it’s 5 weeks and I have no pain. Dr Khurana give me time when we are in the office and explains everything I am concerned about with the spine and related recovery. Dr Khurana is as good as any spine surgeon could be

I am a medical provider on the east coast. I suddenly had severe hip pain last summer and did imaging. There were multiple problems in my hip joint which were severe ; there was also congenital muscle abnormalities. I met Dr. Ramkumar at Winter break while visiting family. I knew immediately after meeting him , and reviewing his credentials and reviews he would be the best choice to perform my surgery., his surgical expertise, knowledge, empathy, and bedside manner are excellent. Now at 7 weeks post-op I am walking long distances and attending physical therapy and I am pain free-a new lease on life. His nurse practitioner Margo was also super helpful along the way. Hands down an excellent orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Ramkumar is an exceptional surgeon and a genuinely caring professional! My dad was struggling with severe hip pain, and we were anxious about his hip replacement. Dr. Ramkumar treated him with remarkable compassion and patience, thoroughly explaining every step to put us at ease. They used advanced Mako robotic-assisted surgery, which was incredibly precise and minimally invasive, enabling my dad to walk the very next day—a fantastic result! Dr. Ramkumar took the time to personally call me, his son, right after the surgery to reassure me that everything went perfectly, which was a huge relief and meant so much during such a nerve-wracking moment. The hospital staff was equally kind and professional, making the entire experience seamless. The pain my dad was experiencing before the surgery is gone and now enjoying life again, and he cannot be happier with the outcome. The team’s follow-up care was outstanding, ensuring his recovery was smooth. Thank you, Dr. Ramkumar, for giving my dad a new lease on life! I highly recommend Dr. Ramkumar to anyone needing hip surgery.” Top Tier, best of the best.

ACL Reconstruction & Meniscal Repair Success After consulting with several orthopedic specialists about my ACL and meniscus injuries, I ultimately chose Dr. Ramkumar—and I am so glad I did!! During my first appointment, his approach stood out: as clear, detailed, compassionate, and above reproach. He took the time to explain every option available to me, answering anll my questions, and immediately gave me confidence in his care. His entire support team deserves recognition. His Nurse Practitioner was attentive and reassuring throughout the process. The Surgery Coordinator made the pre-op scheduling seamless, and the front desk team was consistently welcoming and efficient. A special shout-out to the Disability Forms Specialist as well—quick, knowledgeable, and kind, which made dealing with the paperwork stress-free. The pre-op process was impressively thorough. Dr. Ramkumar’s comprehensive website laid out everything I needed to know—from the days leading up to surgery, to what to expect the day of, to post-op recovery protocols. That kind of accessibility and detail truly made a difference in helping me feel prepared and empowered. A few days after surgery, I had a minor concern and messaged his office—Dr. Ramkumar responded almost immediately, which speaks volumes about his dedication and attentiveness to patient care. Thanks to his clearly communicated physical therapy protocol, I am pleasantly surprised to be back to most of my usual activities just 4 short weeks after surgery. I never expected such progress so soon, and it’s a direct result of the quality of care I received. To Dr. Ramkumar and your incredible staff: thank you for guiding me through this journey with expertise, efficiency, and genuine care. I’m beyond grateful.

Dr. Bhalla is an excellent spinal surgeon and he has an excellent staff. The staff got me in earlier than my original appointment because I was in a great deal of pain. The surgery coordinator did an excellent job of facilitating the process leading up to the procedure. Dr. Bhalla has been excellent from start to finish, taking the time to carefully listen and explain my situation to me and answer questions. There was a great deal of follow-up post surgery. The entire atmosphere of the office and Dr Bhalla 's. very professional demeanor created an environment in which I had complete trust and confidence in him as a person, in his professional abilities, and in his office staff. I am extremely grateful that I had such an excellent person and doctor for my surgery and care.

Dr. Millstein and his team were wonderful during my son’s recent laterjet shoulder surgery. Big should out to his anesthesiologist who was also amazing and so kind. This was my son’s second shoulder surgery in 2 years and after a lot of research and recommendations we went with Dr. Millstein and we are so glad we did! He was kind, professional and took his time explaining the procedure in detail and all the recovery steps. We are 3 weeks out and looking forward to our next post op meeting to assess his healing and progress. Great experience so far! Thank you Dr. M.

Dr. Ramkumar is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. He performed my daughter’s ACL surgery on April 8th, and we could not be more grateful for the care, skill, and attention he provided throughout the entire process. From the initial consultation to the post-op follow-ups, he was thorough, and patient. Just one month after surgery, my daughter is already doing bike therapy and progressing remarkably well. Thanks to Dr. Ramkumar’s expert approach, skills and guidance, she’s on track for a full recovery with hopes to be completed by December. His dedication to helping young athletes return to their sport safely and confidently is truly commendable. If your child ever faces an ACL injury, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Ramkumar. I strongly encourage young athletes and their families to pursue treatment with him first hands on—he is truly the best when it comes to ACL injuries and recovery.

After years of dealing with chronic numbness and tingling in my arms, I finally found relief thanks to Dr. Ortega and his incredible team. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, heard, and taken seriously. I had tried everything—physical therapy, cortisone shots, rest—but the symptoms persisted. Dr. Ortega took the time to review my MRI in detail, explain my condition thoroughly, and walk me through all my options. Just weeks later, he successfully performed surgery to replace three damaged discs in my cervical spine (C4–C7). I’m now just two weeks post-op and already feeling a huge difference. While there’s still some soreness from the recovery process, the intense pain caused by spinal cord compression and disc herniation is gone. This review may be a little early, but I couldn’t wait to share my gratitude. Once I’m fully healed, I look forward to writing an update—but for now, I’m just excited to be getting back to the active lifestyle I’ve missed for so long. Thank you, Dr. Ortega, for helping me take my life back.
