> Dr Khurana and his wonderful staff at DISC Sport and Spine actually get 10 stars!. In the last year, Dr Khurana performed 2 spine surgeries on me (cervical- ACDF and a lumbar XLIF) and both surgeries were the best things I've ever done. Dr Khurana is an amazingly skilled and competent surgeon and he is incredibly patient and explanatory throughout the whole process. His NP Susan is fantastic as are all of the nurses in the surgery center and support staff in the office.Over the last 18 months I consulted with 8 different ortho and neuro surgeons in LA, SF and Sacramento regarding my low back pain that had been on-going for over 10 years. Dr Khurana was the only clinician who suggested that less is more for me...and he performed an XLIF . Not many surgeons are adept at doing an XLIF, but I've had 2 Physical Therapist's that have been completely shocked that I'm up to the level of activity with no pain at 3 months post op. I'm thrilled to be able to get back to being an athlete again...and it's due to Dr Khurana.

> Perhaps my review is colored by the fact that I am an informed consumer of medical services whose Father was a doctor, but not only do I sing Dr Bae's praises, I am flabbergasted by some of the negative comments posted as they do not reflect my experiences with Dr Bae in the least.
>
> I had neck problems for years, annoying, but not life altering. He recommended against surgery, explaining that physical therapy, mild medications, eventually shots, and maybe other therapies were all available before I should consider surgery. He was available for consultations when I needed him, he was not expensive, and I went about 15 years, probably more, playing golf to a sub 5 handicap and tennis to a national ranking of 62 in my age group, without surgery.
>
> Eighteen months ago, the discomfort became more regular and after multiple consultations and photographs, he told me that surgery was indicated. At this point, Dr Bae behaved differently from most surgeons and differently from a couple of the posts that ante-date this one. First, he did not press me to have the surgery immediately, he told me that I could wait to go on medicare as long as certain symptoms did not show themselves. He went over them and explained consequences. Second, he urged me to get a second opinion and to share it with him. I later went for a second opinion (to the hospital for special surgery in NYC) where I was urged to have the surgery ASAP and asked why I would wait. When I explained why, the doctor there agreed that I could wait. Third, Dr Bae understands the billing process and what various insurance companies and medicare will pay for. I have had no other doctor who knew that.
>
> I had the surgery a year ago, one fusion, one synthetic disk. I had discomfort for about 36 hours due to swelling. That was it. I have been back to normal activity and sports for nine months, no pain, no numbness, no discomfort.
>
> Dr Bae's manner is a bit matter of fact rather than hand holding. I actually prefer that approach, perhaps it is because of my background or my personality. If you are looking for a warm and lengthy rah rah session, you won't get it. If you want a fabulous doctor, you will. I am writing him a thank you note today, my first anniversary.

> Dr. Bae and his team are very professional and highly competent. After searching for a surgeon and really doing my homework, I settled for Bae. I was extremely impressed with his credentials( you can google them) and I made an appointment to see him.
>
> After my initial visit, I instantly felt comfortable. I didn't feel pressured, I just felt I found the right guy. I called his office back a week later and scheduled my L5 s1 fusion/ decompression surgery that I sort of already intuitively knew I needed. I then just went along with my intuition that "this was my guy."
>
> As I sit here writing this two weeks to the day post operation, I can only give my utmost gratitude to Bae and his team.
>
> Thanks so much, and keep up the wonderful work! I am feeling better each day.

Imagine my surprise when Wendy immediately called me right back and shifted into high gear working to get me in the next AM, Really? They had me at hello

> Ok so if you have done your homework, you will learn very quickly that this guy is as good as it gets. I saw "all" of the best guys in town (@500 per appointment) and let me tell you flat out if you want to have or are considering a cervical disc replacement, this is the guy to see. Period. 4 days post op and although my throat is a bit sore it is amazing how little impact my surgery was. He has done more artificial disc replacements, than anyone. Unless you want to simply fuse your neck, there is not a better solution in the LA area period. I will write more later. Do your homework, watch the videos online. This guy knows his craft.

> I've had degenerative disc disease most of my adult life. In my mid 40's I decided to get into shape to reduce the side effects of a bad L5 and in doing so started to get sciatica 5 yrs into my fitness obsession. I went to my first ortho who did nothing but put me on Vicodin (which I refused to take) and prescribed me physical therapy. That only made my situation worse. I had 2 epidural shots which seem to work momentarily but eventually wore off. Then I found dr. Bae!!! This man is an amazing surgeon and doctor! His staff is the best, his bedside manner is great, he's a life changer and I can't recommend him to enough people! He's also into cutting edge technology with the use of stem cells for spine rejuvenation (I think I'm saying that right). Anyway, if your suffering and your quality of life is affected def go see him.....it's worth the time to have your life changed for the better!! Thank you Dr. Bae!!!

> I was referred to Dr Millstein by a friend who was happy with him. I'm glad I was. He performed my rotator cuff surgery. I was scared and nervous as this was my first time ever having any issues with my body, let alone surgery. Dr Millstein took ample time to sit with me prior to surgery and go through in detail what would happen. He's quite busy, but it made me feel good to know he was so generous with his time. The surgery went well and the recovery, although long and painful, has went well too. I'm now 7 months removed from surgery and it appears I'll be almost as good as new.
>
> The nurses and his staff are super nice too both in their demeanor and responsiveness. Further as I only had Catastrophic insurance and therefore was going to be paying for this out of pocket they helped me understand the exact costs prior to surgery and were honest and forthright. When the bills came due it was just as they said months prior.
>
> Dr. Millstein is quite busy - but he's worth the wait. If you're unlucky enough to have an issue get an appointment with him and don't look back.

> My mother recently had knee surgery performed by Dr. Millstein. I had read his Yelp reviews prior and was slightly bothered by what others had said, but my mother insisted he was the doctor for her. It has been a couple of months since surgery and I can happily report that not only was my mother's knee surgery a success, her visits to his office and interaction with Dr. Millstein and his staff was great. Dr. Millstein has a great bedside manner and was approachable, informative, caring and went above and beyond to make sure my mother was comfortable and doing well even with her after care, which I truly appreciated. I would highly recommend him to others!

> I was seen once by Dr. Eric Milstein, and I have a very favorable impression of him. When he realized that surgery was not appropriate for my particular orthopedic condition, he took the time to discuss the particulars of my situation. He then referred me to a pain management specialist. I was impressed that Dr. Milstein spent a great deal of time answering my many questions.

> If I could give Dr Bae and his team more stars, I would. Today I am post-op day 4 ( anterior cervical disc replacement and hybrid fusion on another level)- I feel amazing. My arm, hand, shoulder and scapula pain was gone since post-op day 1. I have minimal incision pain, a resolving sore throat and some muscle spasms which are expected, but overall I feel much better than prior to my surgery. Dr Bae and his team exceeded all my expectations. I can never thank him and his team enough for giving me a new chance to live a good life- quality of life is very important. :)

> I just can say that it was a wonderful experience. His staff is very helpful the wait was less than 10 minutes but what is more important is that he is a very knowledgeable doctor. He will listen to your questions and explain them thoroughly . I had a knee dislocation and the MRI results were not very good but he was able to detect a mistake in the reading and gave me peace of mind. He has great bed side manners and is a compassionate and caring doctor. I was referred to him by Dr Sunu Alhluwalia also an excellent doctor but since he was out of network and I need surgery he referred me to him. I don't have enough words to say the peace I feel after visiting him. I have tear tendons and will need surgery. I trust that my recovery is going to be just fine with him. Finding a orthopedian surgeon is a challenge particularly when mobility is at stake. I am glad I found him.

> I just returned from my first visit with Dr Bae today, 5 weeks after two fusions, L-3-4,4-5.
> Believe me I tried for two years to avoid surgery but after 3 epidurals I was in so much pain I had no other choice. I went to others for their opinions but when I met Dr. Bae I knew I had the surgeon(fine carpenter) that I wanted to take the risk with. Well....the minute I opened my eyes after surgery I knew the devil that had lived in my back was GONE! I'll be honest, the first few days required a lot of pain meds but after a week I felt so much better. I did everything that was asked of me and now I am feeling so grateful for the magic that Dr. Bae performed on my spine. Lisa is his PA. She is a great complement to Dr Bae and she was always available (best by e-mail) for any questions or concerns. You know you have made the right decision when you walk in to the hospital the day of your surgery and every member of the hospital staff tells you...Dr. Bae...he's the best!

> I had surgery on my back in March 2014 and I had a number of issues finding a doctor which you can read about (if you want... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/noam-friedlander/affordable-care-act-costs_b_5149120.html).
>
> I have to say, that of all the doctors I visited, Dr Bae's office was the most helpful - even before I actually made an appointment to see them. In total, I ended up meeting with around six surgeons, I did A LOT of research, and settled on Dr Bae and his team. He had operated on TWO of my friends, all successfully, and is an expert in his field.
>
> The surgery - a massively herniated disc L4/L5 - WAS a success. I received plenty of help prior to the surgery and my emails and questions were all answered in a timely manner PLUS I had a number of follow up appointments to check my progress.
>
> I tried everything I could to avoid having surgery, and, as was suggested, I did physical therapy before the operation to see if that could alleviate the pain as well as two epidurals. I found that the office NEVER tried to push me to have an unnecessary surgery, they were incredibly kind and patient, and, it was swiftly apparent to all after my MRI that surgery was now my only option.
>
> There aren't many people I would trust to stick a knife in my back, but I truly trusted Dr. Bae, and was rewarded with my mobility back.
>
> Everyone's post surgical results are different - physical therapy, diet and looking after myself are all my responsibility BUT I feel I gave myself the best shot by selecting Dr. Bae to be my surgeon. Highly recommended.

> I went to see Dr Bae after doing a lot of research on spine surgeons. I found Dr Bae to be the most qualified surgeon in SoCal. The first time we met Dr Bae made me feel comfortable and confident with the decision to operate on my C5-7 discs . The surgery went perfectly and 7 weeks out from surgery I am definitely improving. Dr Bae's bedside manners were awesome and even had my Dad commenting on how nice and profession he was.
>
> His staff is professional and curtious . His right hand Lady Lisa ROCKS! Super nice and caring. I was extremely nervous about the impending surgery and she eased my concerns.

I am a new person, with hope again for all that life has to offer. That sounds dramatic, I know, but when you've been in pain for so long, it's true. > I had the privilege of seeing Dr. Millstein twice and on both accounts I was super impressed by his kindness and genuine concern for me as a patient. I hadn't been to a doctor in over 10yrs and have always been a little skeptical of doctor visits. However, after meeting with Dr. Millstein I could tell right away through our conversation he was extremely honest and understanding of my financial situation and tried to do what would be most cost effective without sacrificing my well being. It was so nice to meet a doctor who's not only skilled in his field, but compassionate while being direct about the kind of care I needed. If you meet with him you'll know what I mean. I would HIGHLY highly recommend him! Such a friendly genuine person.

> My name is Sally Nguyen; I am a 25-year-old female. On August 31st, 13 I was in a horrible motorcycle accident. I broke my hip, femur, and shattered my kneecap. I had 1 year left before applying to medical school, but since my accident happened, I had to take a leave of absence and move back home. My hip, and femur have completely healed. I shattered my kneecap severely. It was wired. I was seeing a physical therapy 3 times a week and they have worked aggressively working to get my ROM back. I was stuck at 37 with my knee being locked. After 5 months of not progressing, I had my second knee surgery by another surgeon (County hospital) March 6; they removed a piece of my kneecap. After weeks of physical therapy, my ROM is stuck at 50 degrees. I've been using the CMP machine 6 hours a day, but with no luck. My knee is locked and wont go pass. It's frustrating to not understand why I can't bend my knee & my surgeon can't explain why. I can't return to school until I have a full medical clearance. I have medi-cal, and I understand you don't accept it. Is there anyway we can work out a payment plan? I hoping to return back to college in Fall I would highly appreciate it if you return my email.

> I just had L 2 to L 5 decompression the 12Th. of this month, February, 2014, pre opt I suffered from Spinal Stenosis in the worst way and struggled with the easiest of task's such as walking up and down stairs, immediately after the procedure was done, not one or two days later, I had unbelievable relief, this coming after what Dr. Bae was able to do considering how messed up it was in there (my spine) which was worse than what had shown on the recent MMRI.
> I just today, two weeks and one day went for my first Post opt visit only to find out that I have cleared except going back to the gym (understandable) to get back to my normal routine.
> The Dr. is exceptional at what he does, I am basically pain free and have been in that state immediately following the procedure. I feel as though I can have my quality of life back and do the things I did way prior.
> I would highly recommend Dr. Bae to anyone who is thing of having a procedure done, he will get it and you right.
