I can’t say enough good things about the man, but I hope my story sheds some light on his skill, character, & may help someone else who like I did, feels confused, afraid, & is unsure of the future before them. > > I met Dr. Ramkumar during the hardest time in my life, & yet trusting him as my surgeon has surpassed all expectations. I can honestly say his guidance and support have been the best experience I’ve had dealing with the US medical system in my entire life. > > I’m a 25 year old professional multi-discipline extreme sports athlete. (Cliff Jumping, Surfing, Snowboarding, Parkour, Freediving, etc.) This year, after over a decade of training, I suffered the worst injury of my career. I fully tore BOTH my ACLs (and a bit of meniscus). The tears happened 3 months apart & although I had an MRI, the first ACL tear had been missed by a previous physician which is what eventually led to the other knee getting injured in the same way. > > When I walked into Dr. Ramkumars office to get the second knee injury looked at he felt both of my knees by hand and without even seeing the MRI yet, told me he was confident I had torn both. I had my first surgery with him, a cervical fusion, in 2005, followed by a second one, a lumbar fusion in 2010. Going from truly unbearable pain which in both cases went on for months, following my procedures I woke up nearly 100% cured; an absolute miracle of relief. It's been 13 years since my last surgery, and my congenital issues have again reared their ugly heads. I am a Spine and Sports Medicine physical therapist that has been helping people with debilitating spinal pain. I only bring that up because when I had back surgery, he demonstrated good bedside manner, compassion, expertise and most importantly, I've been able to perform at a high level... lifting weights and being active with three kids 15 years later. > > When I had to make the decision on who to do my spine surgery at age 28, (I am 42 now) I went and had consultations by the best. I was suffering from an excruciating pain due to a torn disc that was pinching my nerves. My husband had called many surgeons in order to make an appointment for a potential surgery and all have given him sometimes within 2 months of wait. His staff was very kind after my husband was explaining how much pain I am suffering to email him as they were talking over the phone to see if he can see me soon. I was in his office 5 days after! It was obvious that he had studied my MRI images before coming into the room because he knew what exactly was wrong with me and spotted the areas I was suffering with pain.
