I'm glad I was. He performed my rotator cuff surgery. I was scared and nervous as this was my first time ever having any issues with my body, let alone surgery. Dr Millstein took ample time to sit with me prior to surgery and go through in detail what would happen. He's quite busy, but it made me feel good to know he was so generous with his time. The surgery went well and the recovery, although long and painful, has went well too. I'm now 7 months removed from surgery and it appears I'll be almost as good as new. > > The nurses and his staff are super nice too both in their demeanor and responsiveness. Further as I only had Catastrophic insurance and therefore was going to be paying for this out of pocket they helped me understand the exact costs prior to surgery and were honest and forthright. Millstein, MD > I just can say that it was a wonderful experience. His staff is very helpful the wait was less than 10 minutes but what is more important is that he is a very knowledgeable doctor. He will listen to your questions and explain them thoroughly . I had a knee dislocation and the MRI results were not very good but he was able to detect a mistake in the reading and gave me peace of mind. He has great bed side manners and is a compassionate and caring doctor. I was referred to him by Dr Sunu Alhluwalia also an excellent doctor but since he was out of network and I need surgery he referred me to him. I don't have enough words to say the peace I feel after visiting him. I have tear tendons and will need surgery. I trust that my recovery is going to be just fine with him. Finding a orthopedian surgeon is a challenge particularly when mobility is at stake. I am glad I found him. J. D. Millstein, MD > I just returned from my first visit with Dr Bae today, 5 weeks after two fusions, L-3-4,4-5. > Believe me I tried for two years to avoid surgery but after 3 epidurals I was in so much pain I had no other choice. I went to others for their opinions but when I met Dr. Bae I knew I had the surgeon(fine carpenter) that I wanted to take the risk with. Well....the minute I opened my eyes after surgery I knew the devil that had lived in my back was GONE! I'll be honest, the first few days required a lot of pain meds but after a week I felt so much better. I did everything that was asked of me and now I am feeling so grateful for the magic that Dr. Bae performed on my spine. Lisa is his PA. She is a great complement to Dr Bae and she was always available (best by e-mail) for any questions or concerns. Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with many physicians and orthopedic surgeons and I can say with great confidence that Dr. Millstein is among the best. If any of my family or I needed an orthopedic consultation, he would be the one we'd go to without hesitation. > > From a professional perspective, I appreciate that he does not rush into surgery which is a real breath of fresh air. Millstein, MD > Having torn my ACL three times (along with various other left knee injuries), I moved to LA and found myself in need of a new orthopedic surgeon. After looking at reviews for everyone in the area, Dr. Millstein stood out among his colleagues as both a brilliant surgeon and practical/discerning physician. He really listens to his patients and operates as a last option (in my case, I already knew it was my only choice). He performed an open high-tibial osteotomy to realign my leg and managed to leave the most minimal scarring --which is next to impossible considering the invasive nature of this particular procedure. > > Dr. Millstein has also been there to answer any questions I've had during recovery and takes time to follow-up frequently. Millstein, MD > An aged athlete who refuses to give up, I suffered a knee injury that proved to be a turn meniscus. After consulting with friends who'd had bad experiences with other orthopods who, though good doctors, forced them to wait for hours and in general didn't seem to care, I found Dr. Millstein. On my three visits to Dr. Millstein's office, I never waited more than five minutes. He could not have been more cordial and friendly. My operation and recovery went like clockwork with limited pain and discomfort. Two months later I am athleticizing in full swing, wondering if I'll start training for a triathlon. Life being what it is, and me being who I am, I expect I'll have another injury one day; and I won't hesitate to have Dr. Millstein deal with it. C. M. When I dislocated my shoulder Dr. Millstein recommended multiple options prior to me having surgery. Dr. Millstein was very descriptive of the procedure, provided pictures of the surgery, explained the recovery period and honest time line to full recovery. > The operating room was top notch and made me feel comfortable. After surgery, Dr. Millstein personally called me the following day to make sure I was doing well. The follow up from suggesting a Physical Therapist, and checking up on me during the recovery was EXCEPTIONAL. One year later, I am doing muscle-ups, sparring, and hand stand push-ups. I would recommend him to anyone with back problems to see him first i rate him 10 out of 10 M.
