Dr. RAMKUMAR too great care of me. I got an appointment to have surgery on my knee rather quickly. He noticed I had body art around the area where ACL reconstruction would be at and made sure to do his best work as you can tell in the photos you can barely see a scar. He also did thorough explanation of what the surgery would fix. He made it a point to also make sure I keep on track with my physical therapy and to always check in with my physical therapist to see what my progress would be. Dr. RAMKUMAR also took the time to explain how long the process would be how much work I would need to put into it and what his plan was to get me back to as close to 100% as I possibly could. All in all, Dr. Ramkumar is a great surgeon and I would totally recommend him To anyone that has any questions about any injuries to their knees.

March 2025 update I love you, Doc! I’m back to doing two things I love - running and yoga! Had arthroscopy done on both of my hips now and I’m so happy. As long as you don’t have arthritis yet, this procedure is amazing if done properly, and this doctor is the best! 2022 Look no further, this is the doctor you want to see for your hip issues. I saw Dr. G almost a year ago after running my 25th marathon and developing pain in my right hip, I really did not want to do surgery and he gave me options to see if this pain will go away with physical therapy and no running. After six months of no results, I went back to Dr. G and he showed me on the x-ray that hip arthroscopy would be the best choice to fix the problem. I went to other famous orthopedic surgeons in Santa Monica and West LA for second and third and fourth opinions. And it would be fine to choose one of them for the surgery but going with Dr. G felt like the right choice. The level of care and attention you get from this doctor is well above average! He’s meticulous, thorough and has the first-hand experience of this procedure as a Patient. Him being a runner himself gave me confidence I can return to the sport I love.. His assistant Zohra is amazing, any questions - I get answers via emails promptly. She guided me through preparation for the surgery, post-op, etc. it’s six weeks post-op and the doctor saw me three times already to follow up on the progress of my recovery and physical therapy. I have been recommending him to my friends.

Dr. Bhalla is great! He did surgery on my lower back. Once I got through the recovery & physical therapy, I no longer have back pain.

I visited Dr. Khurana for a 2nd opinion and in the process was won over to a new spine specialist. When my physical therapist recommended Dr. Khurana as someone I should get an opinion from, his was a name I’d heard many times over the years. He had a reputation as one of the top spine surgeons in the country. This was something I’d heard touted numerous times over the years. Selecting a doctor with Dr Khurana’s prominence to render a second opinion on a surgery I was scheduled to undergo was comforting to my unsettled mind. I was seeking confidence that the surgery I was about to undergo was appropriate. Alternatives approaches hadn’t been discussed and in the absence of such, I was left to assume surgery was my only option. I just didn’t know the degree of necessity. Was it absolutely necessary? Unsure as I was, I was racing toward another double ADR surgery. I already had double ADR surgery some years ago. Following through with the surgery as planned would render the majority of my cervical spine artificial. Was this even prudent? How many quadruple ADRs exist in the universe? What are the outcomes? I had questions and needed confirmation from another spine specialist that additional ADR surgery was my best course of action. Dr. Khurana analyzed my cervical imaging and surgical history. He reviewed his interpretations with me and my wife, provided us ample time to ask all the questions that had remained unanswered and in the end, it was Dr. Khurana opinion that I didn’t need surgery. Dr. Khurana explained his diagnosis and other more measured alternatives available to treat my case. My visit to Dr. Khurana was as relieving as it was revealing. I feel very fortunate to have turned to Dr. Khurana for answers. It was, in retrospect, a very good decision. Dr. Khurana may be a highly regarded spine surgeon, but he’s a good doctor because he understands the importance of communication and through it, connects. By comparison, It’s now obvious to me what I was missing in my relationship with my previous spine doctor – a human connection. In better hands, C

I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Ramkumar and his team. My knee injury was by far the worst injury I’ve ever had. It was scary and life altering. I needed a complete ACL reconstruction (using a patellar tendon graft), posterolateral corner reconstruction (using a cadaver ligament), and my peroneal nerve needed to be separated and released from my torn bicep femoris tendon that was pulling on it, causing me to experience foot drop. I have limited medical knowledge, but Dr. Ramkumar has always happily taken the time to explain the prognosis, plan of action, and future goals to me without hesitation or judgement. I really appreciate his straight-forward answers, even when they aren’t happy answers. He has been 100% real and honest with me throughout the entire process and I’m very grateful for that. I am 13 months post-op and my knee feels great! After a year of physical therapy and diligent work at home, I am seeing great improvements in my foot drop as well, a sign that the nerve he freed up is healing properly. I definitely recommend Dr. Ramkumar for anyone who needs knee or hip surgery or consultation. His confidence, knowledge, action plans, pre/post-op care, and staff are top notch!

Dr. Leonel A. Hunt is a great Doctor. I suffered from chronic right lower back and right back hip pain for over 2 years and he fixed it. I was diagnosed from my MRI with Sciatic Nerve Pain where my nerves was hitting my vertebrate at L4-L5, obstructing my walking, and standing, causing me to have spasms running down my legs, thighs, knees and to the bottom of my feet; I would have to sit down when they occurred. Dr. Hunt performed a Laminectomy and in 3 months I was during physical therapy and recovered fast. His staff was amazing, especially Raquel, she took care of all of my employment issues in a timely manner. Thank you very much.

I am 14 weeks post-op, I’m thrilled to be gradually returning to the activities I love! Dr. Ramkumar is, without a doubt, the best orthopedic surgeon I’ve ever met—and I’ve seen quite a few for different injuries. From my very first appointment, I knew I was in great hands. He took the time to thoroughly explain my condition, answered all my questions, and was realistic about both the recovery process and potential outcomes. His transparency and attentiveness gave me a strong sense of confidence going into surgery. There was an issue with my insurance initially refusing to authorize the surgery, which was incredibly stressful, but Dr. Ramkumar’s office took care of everything. They worked tirelessly to get the approval without any delays, and I’m so grateful for their advocacy and professionalism. The surgery went perfectly! Dr. Ramkumar even stopped by afterward to check on me, and I was able to ask some last-minute questions. While I understand his schedule doesn’t always allow for this, I really appreciated the extra care. Recovery has been much smoother than I anticipated, with no pain at all. I followed his post-op protocol strictly and asked additional questions whenever I felt uncertain. Before surgery, we discussed my preference to avoid opioids if possible, but we agreed it was wise to have them on hand just in case. I ended up only needing two half-doses for the first two nights to help me sleep. I started physical therapy the day after surgery and followed Dr. Ramkumar’s recovery guidelines, including stationary biking. It’s crucial to remember that large potion of any successful recovery depends on your own dedication to PT, so staying diligent is key. Dr. Ramkumar is not only an exceptionally skilled surgeon but also a compassionate and caring person who truly puts his patients first. If you’re considering labrum repair—or other hip/knee procedures—do yourself a favor and schedule a consult with him. No matter where you’re located, it’ll be worth it!

Dr. Millstein covered all the necessary bases in regard to my postoperative care needs in his specialty of orthopedic knee surgery. He also carefully examined the x-rays that his technician had just completed, and told me that everything looked good. He also said after he had me bend my knees and do some setup and stand exercises that I had reached the point where I really did not need to continue with physical therapy for my knees on a professional level at this time, unless I wanted to. He did encourage me to keep being physically active. He also referred me to Dr. Eugene Tsai for the arthritis in my hands and left shoulder, believing that Dr. Tsai could prescribe some therapy for those issues. Richard Mast, Los Angeles, CA

Dr. Millstein has been my husband, brother, nephew and many friends' go to doctor with all their shoulder and knee issues. Having recently been dealing with shoulder pain I opted to see him for some feedback. Everyone had told me what a great doctor he is but getting to meet him and seeing his bedside manner firsthand made me wholeheartedly agree with them. Dr. Millstein took his time to go over my images and reports and thankfully told me that all I need is Physical Therapy (not surgery) to get better. He was very forthright, knowledgeable and welcoming and encouraged me that I can always reach out to him personally should I have any questions or concerns. Dr. Millstein really cares about his patients. It is evident from the second you meet him that he really is there to help you and not push for surgery unless it's needed. It is not often that I meet a doctor who is not only skilled in his expertise, but also a very genuine and caring person. Dr. Millstein definitely fits the bill! P.S. Dr. Millstein recently moved his practice to a beautiful and stylishly designed office in Santa Monica with breathtaking views. Honestly, it was one of the most gorgeous medical offices I've ever seen!

Brett Pugh, PT, DPT is a detailed and experienced physical therapist who got me back to functional health after two concurrent surgeries - a massive rotator cuff tear as well as a torn quadriceps tendon - Brett was instrumental in my regaining complete function and range of motion for both ailments! If you’re broken, let Brett fix you!

I’ve known Dr. Port as a lay colleague and friend for many years, so there is some bias in my feedback. I will say that his approach to explaining esoteric concepts in the simplest of ways, thoughtfulness in listening to and understanding my symptoms, and attention to detail (pre/ post procedure)… are second to few. I experienced an acute sciatic episode, and it scared me to disbelief. Dr. Port found time in his busy schedule to plan my MRI and epidural intervention. I’m finally in a place of comfort and can resume my life with physical therapy and better posture, with the goal of avoiding surgery. Can't thank him enough!

I have severe sciatica and have been to a chiropractor and had physical therapy, yet no improvement. My GP ordered an MRI and suggested I see Dr. Bhalla. I'm glad I did. He took the time to make sure I really understood the reason for all the pain. He showed me on the MRI that I have spinal stenosis and a synovial cyst at L4/5 pushing against the nerves. I'm going with corrective surgery, that much to my surprise is outpatient. The office staff is excellent and scheduling the surgery was a breeze. I feel very comfortable with my choice, and am confident I'm in good hands.

Dr. Khurana saw me and my wife for neck & back issues. He was just wonderful. He spent time with us. He told us both, "Don't let anyone tell you that you need neck surgery." He told me that my pain was coming from L4/L5. He said, "See a pain Doctor, try everything that he or she recommends. Try Physical Therapy. If nothing works, call me back and we'll talk about a minimally invasive surgery to resolve your pain." My wife and I both felt that Dr. Khurana was absolutely the surgeon we would use for any neck or back issues. He is knowledgeable, professional, and has a compassionate personality.

I recently underwent Ischiofermoral Impingement decompression and sciatic neuroplasty surgery with Dr. Prem N Ramkumar, and I am extremely satisfied with the outcome. For over 22 years, I was down bad, with right hip pain, that caused major foot pain that would make it hard to shake off doing the activities that I love. I was still able to go hiking, snowboarding, paddle boarding, etc, but with limitations and significant pain in my right hip flexor, knee, and foot. Many orthopedic surgeons have told me there is no surgery or cure; it is just physical therapy. My right hip weakened my knee, and I had a snowboarding accident in 2022. After several doctors could not figure out my history of symptoms and pain, I sent to Dr. Prem N Ramkumar, who took the time to discover this rare and unique condition I had been living with. Over the years, I gave my blood, sweat, and tears to this injury. I feel like the planets, fates, and all the stars aligned because the surgery was a success, and I am already experiencing significant improvement in my symptoms. I highly recommend Dr. Prem N Ramkumar to anyone needing Ischiofermoral Impingement decompression and sciatic neuroplasty surgery; I cannot speak highly enough of his and his staff's care. My only complaint is that there are often long wait times for appointments for PT and follow-ups.

I give Dr. Khurana a million stars if I could. He is very knowledgeable and compassionate. I thought I hurt my left shoulder somehow and had excruciating nerve pain running down my left arm. It was so bad I wanted to chew it off myself. I went to several doctors that sent me for an MRI of the shoulder and was sent for physical therapy. One finally sent me for an MRI of my neck which showed a degenerative disk that was pressing on a nerve. I wasn't comfortable with that doctor or a fan of spine surgery so I went to a chiropractor for help. After several treatments there was no relief in sight. By some miracle my dermatologist suggested I call Dr. Khurana and get a second opinion. I did and was able to get an appointment the next day! When he saw me almost in tears from the pain and me telling him I had a planned trip to Italy a week later, he immediately told me he would make room for me to have surgery to replace a disk in my neck the very next day. Something about the way he said it and of course researching him the day prior, made me feel at ease. Well, he did the surgery, it took a few days to feel myself again, but only because of the anesthesia. I felt no pain the moment I woke after surgery. The pain was gone! Within one week, I was able to board several flights, pain free and enjoy a well deserved Italian vacation with my family. I wouldn't have been able to do that without the surgery and certainly not without Dr. Khurana's expertise! His staff from the front desk to the surgery center he uses to his after care team is by far the BEST I have ever experienced. Don't hesitate to make an appointment if you have spinal pain. You have a life to live and Dr. Khurana may help you live it pain free! Thank you again doctor for your compassion!

Amandeep Bhalla is a highly skilled and caring man. Bhalla’s team performed a 360 spinal fusion, installing hardware to correct my scoliosis and stenosis. He said my surgery was challenging as he found and removed numerous synovial cysts within my spinal column. He did not nick or damage my dura, which must have been quite an impressive feat. My surgery took almost 7 hours; recovery has been slow, sometimes halting, but I’ve steadily improved. I would recommend to anyone who has spine surgery to be patient with their recovery, and to seek out aquatic physical therapy, then progress slowly to water aerobics in a shallow pool.

Thank you Dr. Ramkumar for your amazing talant. The surgery you performed on my new hip is better than I expected, like a dream come true. I never knew I would be walking so soon pain free. After the surgery my new hip feels right at home by following your Recommended pre-surgery exercises and after surgery physical therapy 😀 You are the best!

Dr Ramkumar did an ACL reconstruction on me and his duty of care was amazing. On arrival he was very professional and extremely personable which put me at ease starting from our initial meeting, surgery and throughout aftercare. I followed every detail of his instructions which he provides online which was very helpful. My physical therapist couldn’t believe that I was able return to work just 2 1/2 weeks after surgery and asked if he was wearing a cape… lol ( definitely has some special gift). He ensures the highest level of care and compassion, making sure every detail is explained and understood, which makes you feel completely at ease and in very capable hands. He is an asset to his profession and I highly recommend him!

I had one level herniated disc surgery with Dr Khurana in 2010 and the results were.excellent. In 2023 I developed spinal stenosis on two levels in my lower back. I went the route of physical therapy, steroid shots, to no avail. I had the stenosis surgery in November 2023 with Dr Khurana. The results far exceeded my expectations. No more pain and no more trouble walking---and I had a lot of each. Quite amazing actually.

Dr. Ramkumar is a great doctor! The first time we met Dr. Ramkumar, he was very hands on. He took the time to walk me back to get an X-ray and spent time explaining my unique condition and what he will do to help relieve my pain I had for years. He helped coordinate my surgery from start to finish and he would call to update me on every step… all prescriptions was called in. Also, my concerns about having surgery in the hospital instead of outpatient was important because of my medical history and he was instrumental in making sure my surgery was scheduled as an inpatient procedure. The day of surgery he came in early to explain all the details of my procedure and what to expect after the procedure was done. After surgery he updated my family and he took the time to answer any and all questions and showed pictures of before and after surgery, which was 100% better than what I was dealing with for years. Even after a long day of doing other patients surgeries he took the time to come visit me before he left for the day. The next day after my surgery he came and spoke to PT and told them exactly what type of therapy exercises he wanted. He even got on the ground to demonstrate the exercises. He made arrangements for me to continue physical therapy after I was discharged, so I didn’t have to worry. He made himself available all hours of the day calling to check on me or a text. If I text him he would respond right away or call.

Dr. Millstein and his staff are amazing. They really understand how to treat a patient. I've had my knee replaced and am back on the Tennis Courts beating people half my age. Dr. Millstein did an amazing job. He starts with best non invasive approach to help including physical therapy and then suggest other treatments only as needed. If you need a cortisone injection Dr. Millstein is the best at hitting the ‘right spot.’ Everyone there is very organized, I’ve never waited long. I’m very happy with their treatment and would recommend them to anyone having Orthopedic issues and pain.
Eric S. Millstein, MD
Dr Bhalla referred me to 6 weeks of physical therapy twice each week. I did not want and he did not recommend more surgery.
Amandeep Bhalla, MD
Dr. Khurana is very smart, skillful surgeon and a warm and friendly human being. He successfully operated the disk hernia and stenosis in L4/5 area about nine years ago. Just recently I consulted with him again to make sure everything is in stable condition and get his advise on physical therapy. My visit was informative and helpful. I can say, Dr. Khurana “has my back” for life.
Sanjay Khurana, MD
Dr Khurana has been very influential in my life and he is humble about it, that he probably doesn't realize that. I am a Spine and Sports Medicine physical therapist that has been helping people with debilitating spinal pain. I only bring that up because when I had back surgery, he demonstrated good bedside manner, compassion, expertise and most importantly, I've been able to perform at a high level... lifting weights and being active with three kids 15 years later. When I had to make the decision on who to do my spine surgery at age 28, (I am 42 now) I went and had consultations by the best. I was a spine specialist at that time and went to numerous conferences, so those were who I reached out to. I had second, third , and fourth opinions. Khurana was my fourth and he was the only one that showed compassionate care. Btw I had a disc that was sequestered (broke off). He taught me that being the best is not enough as a practitioner. It is important to also be compassionate and caring. To practice listening. We don't get taught this in school. I've referred my colleagues and patients to him and they come back with the same beautiful stories as you are reading. I hope Dr Khurana is reading this review and to know that he is truly a gem in this field. Wishing everyone who is reading this the best recovery. I know it's a scary place to be when you are in pain and deciding to have surgery or not, you don't know who to trust, and I hope this LONG over due review can help you.
