He tried everything, I mean EVERYTHING before deciding on surgery. When he met Dr. Ramkumar, he felt like he was in good hands. From the first consultation, pre-surgery, surgery, and post-surgery appointments, Dr. Ramkumar took ample time and showed patience with my apprehensive parent. Both of my parents are surprised by the quick recovery and ecstatic with the results. A partial knee replacement with full mobility and activity in 2 weeks - wow, just wow! As a child of aging parents, I worry about my folks, but I never felt any concern or doubt in the ability or expected outcome. I feel relieved and am glad that my dad has his quality of life back. He's actually better than ever! I attribute it all to Dr. Ramkumar's skill and ability. I recommend him to anyone that needs a procedure or consultation. He will be honest and tell you the truth. Ramkumar, MD, MBA > I was “bone on bone“ in both of my knees and had been to see 3 different knee specialists over the past 10 yrs. Dr. Ramkumar was the first and only one of the three to tell me that a partial knee replacement was even an option. It was what he recommended, and he backed it up with my x-rays and a clear explanation as to why a partial vs. a full was the clear way to go. Besides his phenomenal surgical expertise, one of the things I really appreciated about Dr. R is that he “got me“. I’m on the chronologically gifted side of things (71YO), but he took the time to understand how active a lifestyle I led, and the things I wanted to be able to keep doing after surgery, i.e. motocross ride, snow ski, pickleball, golf, hike and last but not least - play with our 7 grandkids! I worked out for 2 1/2 months prior to surgery to get my legs in the best possible shape and to help with recovery. Post surgery results have FAR exceeded my expectations. I know every patient will be different, but I have not experienced the pain level I anticipated. As of this writing, I’m 2 1/2 weeks post surgery and have only had to take two pain pills, and I walked 3.1 miles the day after surgery. We went to Disneyland with some friends a week and a day after surgery and walked from 9am-10:30pm. I was tired at the end but no knee pain following either walk! I would highly encourage anyone to pay Dr. R a visit, especially if you’ve already been told you need a full knee replacement. That’s nothing to mess with, and a second opinion could be very helpful in making an informed and wise decision. P. Until seeing Dr. Ramkumar I had no idea that partial knee replacements were even available. The entire process pre/post surgery was so seamless and efficient. Prior to the surgery I was seen at both of his offices in Long Beach and Lakewood for the initial consultations, x-rays, surgery preparation, etc. His office staff were professional and friendly. The day of the surgery, I was scheduled to arrive at 5AM, may be earlier, I was a little intimidated by the looks of the surgery building (had never been to à “surgery building”, I mean the building is nice but it’s specifically dedicated to surgeries-meat chopping room 😳). My amazing doctor comes in and immediately makes me feel comfortable. He is young, BUT he is skilled, experienced and he is the best at what he does. I have heard horrible stories about knee replacements, but after my own surgery I highly recomend that you get yourself out of misery and get your knee replacement done. And if you choose Dr Ramkumar you will not be disappointed. R. Ramkumar, MD, MBA > I had a partial knee replacement surgery on 10/16/2023. My recovery is amazing. Today (2 and a half weeks post-op, I am able to do 100% weight bearing on my surgical leg. I had minimal bruising post-op and pain was manageable. Along the way, Dr. Ramkumar was there and easily accessible via text messages. He is extremely attentive to my needs. When he advised me to consider partial knee vs. Total knee, he explained the logic for his recommendation. I respected his opinion and I am vey happy with the outcome.
