> Dr. Bhalla is great! I've had back issues and intermittent pain throughout my adult years. Whenever it got intolerable I resorted to acupuncture and/or chiropractic care and on a few occasions epidurals. Someone cutting on my back was not anything I was receptive to. When sciatic episodes became more frequent and longer lasting and I was forced to postpone scheduled knee replacement surgery I reluctantly decided to again consult an orthopedic surgeon.
>
> After initial consultation, x-rays and MRI I had follow up appointment with Dr. Bhalla to discuss options. He recommended surgery. Still reluctant to go that route I opted for another try with an epidural, but to to no avail. Back to Dr. Bhalla who told me the problems were going to continue to get worse so at age 73 I finally agreed to surgery.
>
> Lower lumber fusion surgery was performed at Long Beach Memorial Hospital by Dr. Bhalla and Dr. Rao (vascular surgeon). Anterior Lumber Interbody Fusion (ALIF) and laminectomy surgeries were performed on Monday and Thursday of the same week. The week in the hospital (overall very good care and treatment) and first 2 weeks at home I experienced moderate pain and discomfort but nothing intolerable. After 2 weeks of light rehab at home I started physical therapy program. After several weeks of PT my back felt really good. It has been nearly one year since the surgery and other than minimal discomfort during the initial recovery period I have experienced no back pain!
>
> From the initial consultation through the post-op visits Dr. Bhalla thoroughly explained all the options, the details of the surgical procedure, the recovery and rehabilitation process and patiently answered all my questions. Dr. Bhalla is a compassionate and highly skilled physician and surgeon! And, kudos to his very competent and kind office staff. While back surgery is a last resort, if there is no other viable way to address your pain and problems Dr. Bhalla is the surgeon for you.

> From my first call with August, who assisted in scheduling and preparing for an appointment, throughout the entire check-in process, everyone was kind, informative, and patient. I am a very concerned and anxious Mother, due to the pain my son is currently experiencing.
> When Bernadette was examining Nicholas, she was thorough, kind with her examination, and very informative, and clear when answering our many questions. Dr. Bae gave his description and diagnosis after studying Nicholas’ MRI, and we could clearly see the extent of Nicholas injury, and intervention would be needed to repair. In making the decision for an epidural and surgery Bernadette and Dr. Bae were patient and very informative as we were making decisions about an epidural and surgery.
> We grateful to be working Dr. Bae and his staff to get our son healed.

> I have been a patient for the past many years having been treated for a variety of back issues all requiring surgery and pain management. I have had the good fortune to be treated by Dr. Robert Bray and Dr Michael Port. More recently Dr Port saw me related to pain management, all is going according to plan. > Dr. Ramkumar consulted with me about my hip over several months. He is a good and patient listener and was very responsive to my questions. We considered the pros and cons of resurfacing vs full hip replacement and decided that for me full hip replacement would be best. The surgery went well and his pain management regimen and recommended therapy both made my recovery quick and thorough. I’m very happy with my new hip and would recommend him to anyone experiencing trouble with a hip. Thanks, Dr. Ramkumar!

> My most recent visit at the Westlake office left me a bit dissatisfied. Dr. Kamrava was obviously rushed and distracted due to an earlier personal matter. He did not seem to be as prepared as in previous appointments, even insisting I had received an ablation treatment I had not. He did finally agree to schedule an ablation treatment on my back and suggested on for my neck in the future, but failed to review my MRI to justify his decision.
> He did show concern for the amount of Advi I regularly took to relief my lower back pain and prescribed a 30 pill prescription of Tramadol as an alternative, with the instructions to take one to two pills daily.
> 45 days later with 10 pills to spare I asked for a refill but it took over 10 days for the pharmacy to finally get the doctor's approval after the request.
> I have an ablation scheduled for July 22, 2025. I hope it proves to be helpful.

I also have issues with my low back that is next on the list. He gave me a lot of time on the initial visit, really listening. He even called me back after that visit to answer a few more questions. > I have worked in healthcare most of my career and Dr Bhalla in my opinion is the best of the best. A few years ago I needed back surgery and I got to the point that I could barely walk or do much of anything. I went to three spine surgeons for opinions and I left two of the offices amazed at the suggested treatment plans. One surgeon said I needed anterior and posterior lumbar fusion, the second wanted to send me on the epidural merry go round with a pain pump. Thank goodness for Dr Bhalla- he was spot on with the most appropriate yet minimally invasive surgery. I was thrilled that they had a robot assisted protocal and the added gift of having Dr. S Bhalla ( father) assisting Dr. A Bhalla ( son). I was in and out of Long Beach Memorial quickly, and from the time I woke up from surgery had no pain, no complications had no trouble with rehab - although the surgery was so successful my recovery was fast. Years later- still no pain, great range of motion, ability to weight train with no issues etc.
> I am still amazed at the outcome - in addition Dr. A and S are extremly compassionate and caring. I wonder if the added positive vibes help with recovery ? Also- I have had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Dr Bhalla and she is one of the top Dermatologist in the area and is very caring and compasionate.
> Anyone would be lucky to have them as their physicians.
> PS I am " hard grader" as I evaluate healthcare professionals for a living- best of the best!

> Due to an accident a few years back in 2022, I developed cervical and lumbar pain. This pain has disrupted my life, caused depression, anxiety, negated the quality of my life, where I’ve become withdrawn from participating in life, having lost my confidence and failing in getting daily accomplishments completed.
> A week ago, my lumbar pain was a 16, (on a scale of 1 to 10). Because of the accident, I need surgery on cervical and lumbar regions. I opted to have the cervical surgery first. However, the thought of having this surgery did not give me any peace of mind. With time my lumbar spine pain greatly increased in severity, affecting my daily life and ability to sleep for 8 hours a night; (the pain would wake me up several times a night). Last week I had the first of two surgeries by Dr. Vokshoor; with Dr. Kamrava performing a lumbar epidural. The epidural results have been absolutely and instantaneously amazing. I hadn’t known about Dr. Kamrava’s successful work; and had anxiety and negative thoughts about the procedure. However, I did know enough to listen Dr. Vokshoor’s advice in having his trusted colleague, Dr. Kamrava perform the lumbar epidural. Post-surgery, it’s been 1-1/2 weeks and I have not experienced any lumbar pain. Personally, being pain free in my lumbar region is a miracle and I should’ve had this procedure over a year ago, but fear had held me back. (When experiencing severe pain, one becomes fearful and of the following mindset: if something happens during the epidural, (or surgery), then my pain will only become worse - … and I can barely take it like it is….’). Long-term pain is accompanied by any or all of the following: depression, anxiety and fear, loss of hope, anger etc., and more. I hope I have chosen my words properly, in communicating just how grateful I am to Dr. Kamrava, (as well as to Dr. Vokshoor). The quality of my life is changing. I have a lumbar surgery with Dr. Vokshoor on the horizon; and I can see hope and light at the end of the journey of surgeries. I will be able to move forward being structurally sound, say goodbye to chronic pain and with the precious time I have on earth; take my goals off of the top shelf and focus on them again. Dr. Kamrava will be my pain management guru and help me to the goal of living a pain and medication free life. Thank you to my amazing doctors and to you for reading my honest truth and being vulnerable.

> Dr. Millstein and staff all were attentive. l appreciate Dr. taking time to listening to my concerns of wild pain and weirdness my shoulder been actively showing. We did find the issue. I will be making another appointment soon at his new office. l am comfortable with him and if surgery is needed l trust him 99% than my own pain management.
> I am grateful to be and patient of his and staff.

> My experience with Dr. Kamrava over the years has been that he is a most excellent doctor, great communicator, and demonstrates sincere concern for those that are fortunate enough to be a patient of his. Of course, it is best not to need a pain management doctor, but if you do Dr. Kamrava is your best choice. He is skilled at giving pain injections such as spinal epidurals. Always greats you with a smile. Best energy from a physician.

> I’ve known Dr. Port as a lay colleague and friend for many years, so there is some bias in my feedback. I will say that his approach to explaining esoteric concepts in the simplest of ways, thoughtfulness in listening to and understanding my symptoms, and attention to detail (pre/ post procedure)… are second to few. I experienced an acute sciatic episode, and it scared me to disbelief. Dr. Port found time in his busy schedule to plan my MRI and epidural intervention. I’m finally in a place of comfort and can resume my life with physical therapy and better posture, with the goal of avoiding surgery. Can't thank him enough!

> Dr. Khurana saw me and my wife for neck & back issues. He was just wonderful. He spent time with us. He told us both, "Don't let anyone tell you that you need neck surgery." He told me that my pain was coming from L4/L5. He said, "See a pain Doctor, try everything that he or she recommends. Try Physical Therapy. If nothing works, call me back and we'll talk about a minimally invasive surgery to resolve your pain." My wife and I both felt that Dr. Khurana was absolutely the surgeon we would use for any neck or back issues. He is knowledgeable, professional, and has a compassionate personality.

> Dr Khurana performed L4/5 stenosis laser surgery 8 years ago with unbelievable results. Now my issues are with disc herniation. Dr. Khurana is not one to offer up surgery as a 1st option. Twice over the past 2 years he’s recommended a more cautioned approach & has referred a pain management Dr. who will provide steroid shots & or an epidural steroid injection in the troubled discs. If they fail to provide necessary relief then alternate options will be considered. Dr. Khurana is not only one of the best in LA he is one of the best in the world.

> This doctor is a gifted medical magician. I suffered for years with neck pain from a pinched nerve. I couldn't even turn to back up in my car. Rather than neck surgery he did a nerve ablation and all symptoms are gone for years now. He also does great epidural injections for stenosis. Great bedside manner. Assistant Nora is hard working and responsive. What more could you ask for?

> Considering that age attracts doctors, the older I get I need more doctors. Along the way I found Doctor Khurana to be the best of the best. I completely trust him and his skills partially based on the success of my low back fusion last year. That surgery changed my life and I am looking forward that he will be putting a new disc in my neck later this year. I have been seeing him for about 15 years regarding pain management leading up to surgeries.

> Dr. Bhalla is a fantastic Doctor. He always takes the time to hear any questions and/or concerns you may have. I had to have a couple of epidural injections done and surgery on my L5-S1. I would highly recommend Dr. Bhalla to anyone who is having trouble with their back.

> Dr. Bhalla saved my life! I spent a year in bed, spending absurd amounts of money on XRAYS, MRS's, chiropractic, epiderals, pain management, back specialists and so much more for my back problem only to continue to get worse. Dr. Bhalla from Day 1 made me feel safe and I knew I could trust him to cure me. I am only 39 years old and was very scared to have surgery, even though I was almost unable to walk or stand due to severe pain. But Dr. Bhalla did exactly what he said he could. I can actually live life again and think about the possibility of carrying a child. I cant thank him enough and recommend Dr. Bhalla and his amazing staff to anyone and everyone!!!

> Incredible results from an incredible spine surgeon!
>
> Dr. Hyun Bae possesses a completely different level of understanding and surgical skill-set that elevates him well above his peers in his field of expertise. Just look at his resume, it's clear why he's considered the best spine surgeon in the U.S. by those who've had the pleasure of being repaired by him.
>
> It wasn't by chance that I went to Dr. Bae, I researched spine surgeons in the U.S. extensively and interviewed several before concluding Dr. Bae was clearly the most talented surgeon I could select. And he didn't disappoint me!
> The entire staff at The Spine Institute Center for Spinal Restoration is very professional and highly efficient. This included scheduling my appointments, working with my insurance company, coordinating my surgeries and all follow-up appointments, including phone calls checking on my recovery progress.
>
> Tackling my complicated issue required two separate cervical spine surgeries. The first consisted of a posterior laminotomy, medial facetectomy and foraminotomy at level C7/T1, followed 3-weeks later with a complete 2-level anterior disc replacement at levels C5/C6 & C6/C7. State of the art titanium/polymer artificial discs were securely implanted, providing me with a full range of motion and pain-free use of my neck.
>
> Both surgeries were performed at the Advanced Surgical Center of Beverly Hills on an outpatient basis, which would have been unimaginable just 5-years ago. Amazingly, my disc replacement surgery began at 7am and I was in my vehicle being driven home at 1pm the same day, wearing only a soft neck brace for the ride home, which I never needed to wear again.
>
> My recovery and pain management has been way better than anticipated. In fact, the most difficult part of my entire recovery has been forcing myself to take it easy to give myself time to heal, simply because I feel so good.
>
> It's only been 7-weeks since my second surgery and I honestly feel like I can physically do anything without pain or limitations. I'm patiently waiting for Dr. Bae's clearance before returning to my regular workouts, active lifestyle, and pursuit of competitive golf.
>
> My recommendation to anyone in the U.S. searching for the finest spine surgeon available to diagnose and perform spine surgery on them is to include Dr. Hyun Bae on your list to interview. Resist the urge of selecting your spine surgeon simply based on geographical conveniences. Travel if necessary, your spine is too important.
