I usually don't write reviews. But felt compelled to do so, because I don't want other patients and families to go through what we have endured. After a devastating and traumatic experience with another orthopedic surgeon, our family was in a place of fear, frustration, and despair. My mother underwent a knee replacement that was so negligently handled by Dr. Shaun Chandran that it led to serious complications, putting her entire leg—and her quality of life—at risk. What followed was a grueling, hellish six months that involved three additional surgeries, endless pain, and an uphill battle to save her leg. Enter Dr. Prem Ramkumar. From the moment we met Dr. Ramkumar, there was a sense of calm, confidence, and true compassion that we hadn't experienced before. He didn't just take on my mother’s complex knee revision case—he owned it with a level of dedication and skill that can only be described as life-saving. He listened carefully, explained every option with honesty, and most importantly, treated my mother as a person, not just another patient. This wasn’t just a revision surgery—it was a rescue mission. And Dr. Ramkumar delivered. Thanks to his incredible expertise, relentless commitment, he along with Dr. Wirth saved my mother’s leg. I cannot overstate what that means to us. It makes me emotional when I think about the second chance he gave her when others had failed her so terribly. She still has a long road to recovery but when you have a team of medical professionals who have become like 2nd family by your side it makes the difficult days a bit more easier to cope with. If you’re looking for an orthopedic surgeon who is not only brilliant but also a genuinely compassionate human being, Dr. Prem Ramkumar is the one you want in your corner. Our family will forever be grateful for what he’s done—not just medically, but emotionally. He restored our hope. Thank you, Dr. Ramkumar for going above and beyond. You are a rare and extraordinary doctor and we are forever indebted to you.

My name is Gretchen and in March 2025 Dr Prem Ramkumar performed a full knee replacement on me. And here I am 4 months later and I'm walking and biking! I first saw Dr Ramkumar in December 2024, I had been having serious knee issues and pain for about 6 months. After a lot of research around the internet I came across his website. Upon meeting Dr Ramkumar I felt comfortable. He is easy to talk to and gives you clear and concise answers. He laid out my options and told me to think about. He directed me to his comprehensive website which includes and hour by hour breakout of the operation, all medications and when they are to be administered. in addition the site includes details of when you are to start bending, straightening and walking. Along with when you start therapy. I returned 2 weeks later with questions which he answered. As in the first appointment he didn't put any pressure me to get the operation, he stressed that was my decision. I'll be honest, i was terrified. I was convinced that I would not be able to do the PT and it would be a disaster. It's funny, he kept telling me he knew I would be able to handle it. I had the operation March 2 at Long Beach Memorial, and was up and about on the 3rd. I was still afraid I would not be able to do the PT at home. The hospital staff could not have been better. The PT folks walked me through every movement I would have to make at home (in/out of bed, on/off toilet, up and down the stairs) until I was comfortable I could do it! Went home the next day and PT began coming to my house the same week. And I have never looked back! Could not recommend him more! G. lewotsky long beach CA

I had been suffering from severe arthritis in both knees for a number of years, always afraid of knee replacement surgery after seeing how hard it was on a family member. Now, I’m 6 weeks out from left knee replacement surgery, having had the *best possible experience* under Dr. Prem Ramkumar’s excellent care. He and his helpful staff have been with me every step of the way. His friendly demeanor put me at ease, and his knowledge and experience engendered my trust. But the best part is how well I have felt postoperatively. My pain was very well managed, and my range of motion is progressing rapidly with the help of both his in-house physical therapist as well as a handy app that has home exercises which are advanced in stages. The app also provides a lot of useful recovery information and a way to easily communicate with the office. If you need any type of knee surgery, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Ramkumar to you. I will be returning later in the year to have him replace my right knee. A+ positive experience.

I saw Dr Millstein for my left total knee replacement over a year ago…from booking my surgery, his staff and the doctor himself, it’s 5 star ⭐️’s from me. I’m even booking my next knee replacement - other side - next month!

Dr Ramkumar is a great doctor. He made my experience of having partial knee replacement as positive a process as can be. My recovery is going great thanks to him. I have been able to return to all my normal activities after 2 months. I have recommended him to friends and family, and will continue to do so.

I had a total knee replacement with Dr. Millstein in April of 2024 and he and his team are superb! They are great! Although the surgery itself was my most painful surgery, the process of my pre-op, the surgery itself and post op were fantastic! I need my other knee done and I will have Dr Millstein do the surgery!! His office staff are amazing! So helpful with everything!

Dr. Ramkumar is a gem! Straight to the point, no fluff which is preferred when you have an injury. Dr. Ramkumar RE-DID my mom's original knee replacement which was the incorrect size, yes... the first doctor put in the wrong size! Dr. Ramkumar fixed my mom's knee and she is doing amazing! Don't get me wrong, it has been a tough couple of months for her, but the pain is now gone and she's walking great! He will be doing her other knee in the next few months. I highly recommend Dr. Ramkumar. His staff is pretty great too!

Dr. Eric Millstein is awesome! I had a right knee replacement and a right shoulder replacement this year and I would do it again. So happy about my results, and the attention Dr. Millstein gives. His candor helps you to trust what he says and the end results are proof that his word, expertise and experience absolutely can be trusted.. He is the Best.

Dr Millstein is very nice , professional. Remembers me. Office is clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. I had a total knee replacement and he was very honest about what to expect. I am still healing but walking without a cane in 6 weeks. Everyone is different.

I saw Dr Millstein for a second opinion on a knee replacement surgery. His recommendation was very straight forward and direct. He gave me exactly the information I needed to move forward with the knee replacement.

I had a partial knee replacement surgery on 10/16/2023. My recovery is amazing. Today (2 and a half weeks post-op, I am able to do 100% weight bearing on my surgical leg. I had minimal bruising post-op and pain was manageable. Along the way, Dr. Ramkumar was there and easily accessible via text messages. He is extremely attentive to my needs. When he advised me to consider partial knee vs. Total knee, he explained the logic for his recommendation. I respected his opinion and I am vey happy with the outcome. He's extremely knowledgeable, very tech savvy and has excellent bedside manner. I am certain he will treat all his patients with love and grace. Thank you Dr. Prem Ramkumar!

Dr. Andrew Wassef and his assistant Jason were a godsend. I had knee surgery in 2016. My 2023 knee surgery was so successful that my knee is better than it was before. My knee was in very bad shape with an infection, not from the initial knee replacement, but there were other complications, So, called Dr. Wassef the cleanup man, he did a wonderful job, restoring my knee, because he had a difficult task to save my knee/leg. and possibly my life. God Bless Dr Wassef and his staff.

This was my first experience with any doctor other than my GP. I had a ton of anxiety going in but Dr.Millstein was personable and patient as we discussed my issue and he assuaged any anxiety I had surrounding my visit and his recommendation going forward . He sat and listened patiently as I went through the list of questions I had and made sure I was satisfied with the answers before I left (I had convinced myself he was going to tell me I needed a knee replacement!!!). The experience was better than I even imagined it would be - and I get to keep my knee - lol.

Dr. Millstein is a wonderful doctor. I went to him for knee replacement surgery, as well as for his opinion regarding rotator cuff surgery. He suggested that no surgery was necessary at this time. I trust Dr. M and his opinions.

This is wonderful office. Everyone smiles when you come in. But most important is the quality of care. i have always felt that Dr. Millstein is an extremely skilled practitioner , attention to the patient's questions, and attempts to answer directly, snd honestly. My husband had knee replacement several year ago, and had some physical therapy to assist in the recovery, and the Physical Therapist said he could be a poster child fort this kind of surgery. A perfect job!!!! Very fine Doctor.

Best possible outcomes because of Dr. Millstein! I couldn't be happier with my recent knee replacement that Dr. Millstein performed. And - I'm only 2 weeks out from the surgery! He was very upfront with the pros and cons for me. I have always felt that he truly cares about me and my situation. I have Lupus and arthritis and have deliberated the decision for the replacement for almost 10 years. I was told for the first few that I was too young for it at the time. I'm still technically too young since there is a possibility I'll have to have another one someday. But - Dr. M never pushed the surgery on me. In fact, he told me two years ago, that he wouldn't do it for "aggravating" only when it became unbearable. That happened this year when I was held back from almost all of the activities I have enjoyed my whole life. It was time. And I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I was a bit concerned at the start - because I got a UTI in the hospital and had to stay on a little longer. But - my care from Dr. Millstein and the residents on call took amazing care of me, gave me a lot of attention and clearly explained the issues and risks. I came home in fine shape, and was off to rehab! Best decision I've made regarding my health in a long time. I can't wait to ski, hike, bike and play in the coming months!

Dr. Millstein performed a knee replacement on my right knee on 5/17/17. He operated on my left knee 2 1/2 years ago. Both surgeries went extremely well, and my recuperation has been excellent both times. He is very caring, and listens to you. I live in Palm Desert, but he is worth the long drive. Also as a bonus, my scars look better than others I have seen. I recommend him highly. Did my knee replacement surgery and i was up and moving sooner, stronger and better than anyone that I know. Good guy, the kind of Dr you recommend without a second thought.

(This review is WAY late, but more than worth reading!) I had massive knee/joint pain. After meeting with several orthopedists and finding no real rapport or confidence with them, I met with Dr. Millstein. My knees instantly knew they'd found their soulmate! It was clear from arthroscopic surgery I was walking on borrowed time, not to mention being freaked out at the thought of knee replacement. When I'm nervous, I ask a lot of questions, and by "a lot" I mean "a lot MORE than a lot." Not only did he answer each and every one, but went the extra light year and laughed at my jokes (unlike most physicians, who usually threaten to charge me extra). (As they say, I can be a "problem patient.") When it came time to replace my left knee, I went willingly. (He's been kind enough never to mention that in my about-to-enter-dreamland fog, I think I asked him for a date! Oy!) A few days at Cedars-Sinai and a few months of PT and I was walking a zillion times better than I ever had! In fact, a few months later, he replaced my right knee, which I have very comfortably crossed over my left as I type this several years later (I told you I was way late with this). For a while, he no longer accepted my insurance, and I respect him for that, because I felt he was vastly undercompensated by said company. And I am willing to pay the extra "out-of-plan" cost to see him, because I feel 100% comfortable in his care, not to mention that of his nurse, Nancy (how she puts up with me I'll never know either)! In short, if you don't have a leg to stand on, you should see Dr. Millstein! (And no, he didn't laugh at that one either!) In all seriousness, he IS the best!

Dr. Millstein : Babyboomer Athletes Best Friend. Dr. Millstein's no nonsense approach to evaluating my knee problem (swelling from past surgeries), resulted in a spot-on diagnosis. No knee replacement needed (as other Dr's have suggested). He simply said," You dont need me - you need good Physical Theropy." Millstein directed me to his website and suggested me to use one of his Theropists. Following his instructions, a Theropist was chosen. The rest is history. My knee is now strong and fully oprational. Dr. Millstein changed my life. F. K.
