> I am fortunate to have Dr. Prem Ramkumar as my orthopedic surgeon. He accurately diagnosed my issue and was successful in surgically repairing it. During my initial consultation, Dr. Ramkumar reviewed my medical history and studied my MRIs and X-rays. He then patiently discussed with me how I felt and how my issue was impacting my daily life. It is rare for a doctor to spend time including the patient in forming the diagnosis. After my five years of severe pain, during which I incurred multiple surgeries, shots, and pain pills, I am finally back to my active lifestyle. I am also impressed by how nice his office is and the professionalism of his staff.

> A few years ago, my neck went out. I couldn't lift my head up at all, and the pain was excruciating! I went to a local orthopedic office, and right away they referred me to Dr Khurana. He looked at my X-ray, and said that it needed to be fixed asap. Collapse discs needed fusing, and this hardware attached. My only problem was my insurance- who insisted I see some morons who didn't specialize in spinal surgery. Hello? This is my neck- not my knee, etc. Took a month of fighting, and they finally approved it. I was so scared! My cervical neck is vital to my spine, and I have had many surgeries in my life! But he was kind, very confident, and respected in his field. My surgery went by the book- every thing he told me. I recovered very well, and you can't find my scar! The rest of my neck is going, as he warned me it would, so I need to get the rest fixed.
> I wouldn't dream of trusting anyone else on this delicate part of my spine! He's the best! I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs spinal surgery. Amazing staff there, and caring. Thank you Dr Sanjay, and will see you again! Still scared about surgery, but feel better knowing that I am in great hands!!! God bless you!!!

> After 20 years of hip pain and sometimes the struggle to rise or long walking distance, I decided to visit Dr.Ramkumar. From x-rays he took I found out I needed a hip replacement. From my initial visit , to pre op to post op, my experience with him and his office staff was great. I would highly recommend.

> Dr Estess was incredibly helpful and gave me a thorough explanation of what was going on with my shoulder. I sought her out for a third opinion and was glad I did. She spent a lot of time with me explaining the MRI and options to consider for me before jumping into surgery. She was kind, practical, helpful and friendly. I trust her judgment and appreciate the way she gave me a full picture of what to anticipate: pros and cons, of my condition.

> Once upon a time, in the not-so-fairy-tale land of Chronic Painville, lived an adventurous soul (that's me!), who, following an automotive misadventure that would make even a stunt driver wince, ended up with a neck and back more twisted than a mystery novel plot - think C6/7 and L5/S1 playing the lead villains in this spine-tingling saga. Picture this: a disc replacement at C-6 and 7 became my immediate quest, as I was in such excruciating pain that moving my neck felt like I was auditioning for the role of a non-flexible robot.
>
> Now, disc replacement surgery at the time was the new kid on the block in the US, strutting down the medical runway with its shiny new potential. Lumbar spine, though? Not so much on the VIP list yet. And fusion? Oh, I'd heard the tales of woe and stiffness - a motley crew of friends still in agony or moving like vintage robots post-fusion had me saying, "Thanks, but no thanks."
>
> So, there I was, waiting in the wings, pain as my constant companion, for years, dreaming of the day when lumbar disc replacement would hit the mainstream. And let me tell you, the idea of doctors rummaging around the front of my torso gave me the heebie-jeebies - like, serious "Are you sure you don't need a map?" vibes.
>
> But then, as the pain crescendoed to a level of unbearable that had me contemplating a career as a human pretzel, I embarked on a quest to find the Merlin of spine surgery. Enter Dr. Khurana - a wizard, a magician, a veritable rock star of the OR. Initially, he was like, "Hmm, your disc has left the building, and we're talking bone-on-bone - wanna see the MRI to prove it? Might have to go the fusion route, but let's give it a whirl."
>
> D-Day arrived, and guess what? Dr. Khurana pulled off the impossible with the panache of a maestro conducting a symphony - no fusion, just pure, unadulterated surgical genius. His team? Angels in scrubs, each more caring and considerate than the last. And Dr. Khurana? A man so passionate about his craft, he could probably perform surgery with his eyes closed (not that he did, mind you - just saying, he's that good).
>
> Sure, a year later and I'm still on nodding terms with some residual pain, but it's nothing - a mere whisper compared to the cacophony of agony I endured for years. So here's to Dr. Khurana and his crew - the rock stars of the medical world, who gave me back a semblance of normalcy and taught me that, sometimes, the best fairy tales don't involve princes or dragons, but gifted surgeons with the power to change lives.

> Dr. Ramkumar is a one of a kind master of his craft. I can’t say enough good things about the man, but I hope my story sheds some light on his skill, character, & may help someone else who like I did, feels confused, afraid, & is unsure of the future before them.
>
> I met Dr. Ramkumar during the hardest time in my life, & yet trusting him as my surgeon has surpassed all expectations. I can honestly say his guidance and support have been the best experience I’ve had dealing with the US medical system in my entire life.
>
> I’m a 25 year old professional multi-discipline extreme sports athlete. (Cliff Jumping, Surfing, Snowboarding, Parkour, Freediving, etc.) This year, after over a decade of training, I suffered the worst injury of my career. I fully tore BOTH my ACLs (and a bit of meniscus). The tears happened 3 months apart & although I had an MRI, the first ACL tear had been missed by a previous physician which is what eventually led to the other knee getting injured in the same way.
>
> When I walked into Dr. Ramkumars office to get the second knee injury looked at he felt both of my knees by hand and without even seeing the MRI yet, told me he was confident I had torn both. After looking at my MRIs he immediately spotted the tears.
>
> He’s new, but he’s cutting edge, doing techniques that a lot of the older surgeons aren’t, because they’re more comfortable with the techniques they learned back in the day. He broke down my injury & the details of my recommended surgery in English instead of usual medical jargon, told me with confidence he could get me back to being an elite athlete again, & I’ll never forget what he said after suggesting the patellar tendon graph…
> “listen man this is the Ferrari of ACL replacement surgeries. I’m gonna fix you up”
>
> Since then Dr. Ramkumar has been attentive & invested in my successful recovery. Texting me with updates, checking in every week & giving me loads of advice.
>
> Since I’m one of the few Bi lateral ACL tear patients around, (meaning I tore both at the same time) he went the extra mile to consult colleagues in the east coast with more experience to make sure he had as much information as possible before recommending anything to me.
>
> I have felt confident in every choice he’s made, I’ve now done the first surgery, and am already a week ahead of my recovery timeline, 20 days post surgery I’m walking around semi-normal, 90° flexation, full extension/toe touching, and getting exponentially better each day.
>
> I have no doubt that in proper time & consistent PT I will be back to the level I was before any of this.
>
> I couldn’t recommend someone higher if you’re suffering from a hip or knee injury, especially if you’re an athlete where a full 100% recovery is vital to pursuing your passion & returning to what you love most in the world.

> Dr. Ramkumar is a great doctor!
>
> The first time we met Dr. Ramkumar, he was very hands on. He took the time to walk me back to get an X-ray and spent time explaining my unique condition and what he will do to help relieve my pain I had for years. He helped coordinate my surgery from start to finish and he would call to update me on every step… all prescriptions was called in. Also, my concerns about having surgery in the hospital instead of outpatient was important because of my medical history and he was instrumental in making sure my surgery was scheduled as an inpatient procedure. The day of surgery he came in early to explain all the details of my procedure and what to expect after the procedure was done. After surgery he updated my family and he took the time to answer any and all questions and showed pictures of before and after surgery, which was 100% better than what I was dealing with for years. Even after a long day of doing other patients surgeries he took the time to come visit me before he left for the day. The next day after my surgery he came and spoke to PT and told them exactly what type of therapy exercises he wanted. He even got on the ground to demonstrate the exercises. He made arrangements for me to continue physical therapy after I was discharged, so I didn’t have to worry. He made himself available all hours of the day calling to check on me or a text. If I text him he would respond right away or call.

> I have NEVER written a yelp review for a Dr. but I wanted to share the experience I had with Dr. Millstein and his entire staff. I unfortunately slipped and fractured 2 bones in my leg. Having never had anything more than a paper cut in all my life I was terrified. I could not have been referred to a better Dr. !!! From my first visit, Dr. Millstein was personable and patient as he SAT and walked me through the x-ray of my leg, explaining the bone(s) I fractured, how they "work", what the recovery process would look like and even the symptoms I might have as I recovered. Without knowing it, this is exactly what I needed...details. He didn't try to rush the healing process but encouraged me (when it was time and the bone had healed) to do what "felt right" as I began to move away from the crutches and the boot. This may sound elementary and expected and if it is - great! However, I've had my share of annual office visits to the Dr. over the years and the totality of all of those visits pales in comparison to exceptional service of Dr. Millstein and the Commons Clinic staff. From the greeting from the front office and the respect of your time (not even a 15 min wait to be seen) to entire back office staff - they are all following the example he is setting. Everyone makes you feel like they are there to help which is an awesome feeling when you are down and wobbling around on crutches! If (God forbid) you ever break a leg, run (no pun intended) to the Commons Clinic and see Dr. Eric Millstein. Tell them Violet sent you...You will Thank me later!

> Dr. Khurana and his staff were great. They took a significant amount of time with me to go over my MRI results and talk about treatment options. Although he’s a surgeon, surgery was discussed but it was not something that was pushed and was really a last resort if other treatments don’t work. I really felt that they cared about the well being of their patients. I highly recommend the practice.

> After numerous epidurals and PT I came to the realization that my only remaining option to resolve my back pain was to consult a spine surgeon. After extensive research and review, Dr. Hyun Bae jumped to the top of my list. What a great find! Dr. Bae was warm, friendly, down to earth and exuded a tremendous amount of confidence. After reviewing my MRI he indicated that he could help me, but it would involve surgery. No problem, as that was what I expected. He explained what he would do while pointing that out on my MRI. He used the words, 'easy peasy" to describe what needed to be done. Easy for him to say, but in reality it was a minimally invasive procedure. I felt totally comfortable with him. I might add that every person whom I can in contact with at Cedars-Sinai or the Spine Institute was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. I cannot recommend Dr. Bae highly enough. Thank you, Dr. Bae.
