Dr. Wassef is my hero. When I was about 6, I was diagnosed with a somewhat rare condition known as Perthes disease. 24 years later I had developed advanced osteoarthritis, among other complications. I’m lucky to have had such a great doctor take on my case. It’s been three weeks since I had my hip replacement , and after all these years, I’m finally pain free!!

Hip Replacement So, your hip is hurting bad enough that you finally need to get it checked out, but you're not sure who to see. That was exactly the situation I found myself in. I knew I wanted a surgeon who specialized in the anterior approach rather than the posterior, since the recovery with the anterior method tends to have fewer limitations. While I was researching, I came across reviews for Dr. Prem Ramkumar. After looking into his training and current practice, it became clear that he was a standout in the field of hip surgeries. He was exactly the kind of doctor I was looking for—someone who used modern techniques to ensure the best possible outcomes. I made an appointment, and within two weeks, I was meeting with him. After reviewing my case, which included hairline fractures, arthritis, and bone-on-bone rubbing, Dr. Ramkumar agreed that I was a good candidate for a total hip replacement. We scheduled the surgery a couple of months out. During that time, I followed the instructions given by both Dr. Ramkumar and Long Beach Memorial. There were daily exercises—nothing too strenuous—but I’m sure they helped my recovery. When the big day arrived, I met with Dr. Ramkumar before the surgery. He reassured me that everything looked good and we were ready to go. Later that day, after the surgery, he came to check on me again to ensure everything was progressing as it should. I could tell he was genuinely invested in my case. That same day, I was able to walk to the restroom with a walker, use the toilet independently, and go up and down a few steps. By the end of the day, I was cleared to go home and was discharged. After the surgery, I stuck to the post-op exercises Dr. Ramkumar recommended. In the first week, I walked around the house and outside with a walker. After that, I graduated to using a cane. Now, almost three weeks post-surgery, I’m feeling fantastic. I’m walking two 1-mile walks a day and continuing with my exercises. I can’t recommend Dr. Ramkumar enough. His expertise made the entire surgery nearly pain-free, and I honestly can't believe how well I’m doing at this point in my recovery.

My previous orthopedic doctor retired so I went to Lakewood Orthopedics. Dr. Ramkumar walked in my room with his hand out and says Hi Coral. I'm Prem. So we're doing a hip........ After that humble introduction, I knew i was in the right hands for this hip replacement!!! For the first time in 4 years i can walk without a cane and no pain. I even had a first being able to stand up straight at an xray machine. I cried and shared that with him. When your body tells you that it can't do something, once you can it's life changing. Dr. Wassef is AMAZING! He is so kind and caring, I’ve never meet a Dr like him. His whole team is the BEST! I feel so blessed that I was able to have him do my hip revision. He did a fantastic job, much much better than I had expected. I had my first hip replacement done 4 months prior at Hoag Hospital, it dislocated twice after 4 months of healing and PT. Nightmare!! I hold Dr. Garabekyan in the highest regard possible. In the last four months, he performed two surgeries on me: a hip replacement surgery on my right side, and arthroscopic surgery of my right knee. I've thus been through something of an ordeal: pre-surgery, surgery, post-op, in-home physical therapy, outpatient PT. Through it all, Dr. Garabekyan was a consummate professional, the best of the best, a veritable magician with the scalpel: minimizing scars and getting me back on my feet post haste. I now walk pain-free and glitch-free. Every time I walk, I am consciously grateful for the very fact that I'm walking. My gratitude extends gushingly to Dr. Garabekyan and his staff. He took the time to answer patiently my every question, and he allayed my qualms about the procedures, and his keen judgment gave me the confidence to go forward. I made the decision to drive all the way from the western-most part of LA Country to his office in Beverly Hill, even though LA traffic can back up and make like miserable. But it was worth it. I feel I had the best medical care in all of Los Angeles. Dr. Garabekyan spent as much time explaining things as needed, and his bedside manner exudes and inspires confidence. His follow-up care was superb. In a minute, I'd pick him to perform surgery on one of my joints gone bad. He's business-like but also affable and warm. I would recommend him to anyone on a dime!

Dr Wassef Performed a total hip replacement on my right hip. I found him to be outstanding in every way. Before the surgery, but very clear on in every aspect. Also, very patient with me and spent a lot of time explaining the situation. The surgery and the aftermath have been fantastic so far. The technique Dr. Wassef uses seems to smaller scar and less muscle cutting than other techniques An outstanding performance from beginning to end.

Dr Wassef is an incredibly skilled surgeon who treats his patients like good friends. In less than 5 weeks after my hip replacement, I was back on the dance floor. My physical therapist was so impressed with my recovery that he released me after 12 sessions of therapy. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Wassef. I needed a difficult and complicated hip replacement. Seven weeks after my surgery I was able to go to Europe for the birth of a new grandson. No walker.
