> I don't really know where to begin. I was introduced to Dr. Khurana after injuring my neck and not having any strength/extreme pain in my shoulder. This was a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm. He reviewed my MRI and knowing the pain I was in insisted that his assistant schedule me for surgery Thursday that same week and not wait until Friday. I had a herniated disk. It was in pieces. It was only one day but it showed a lot about the doctor understanding his patients and doing what needs to be done to put them first. He answered all my questions, was honest about everything I asked him, and most importantly made me feel like I was his only patient despite having I believe 4 other procedures to do that day. I didn't even get a 2nd opinion...this guy was so impressive upon meeting him my father who is a physician and I decided it wasn't necessary. I handled zero paperwork, everything is done for you, what a pleasure. Lastly, I was back at work 4 days later. I was back playing 18 holes of golf 5 weeks post op. No rehab was necessary. I simply cannot say enough good things about this man. I thanked him 1000 times over and its still not enough. I am back to normal life. Dr. Khurana is the absolute best!!!!!

> Incredible results from an incredible spine surgeon!
>
> Dr. Hyun Bae possesses a completely different level of understanding and surgical skill-set that elevates him well above his peers in his field of expertise. Just look at his resume, it's clear why he's considered the best spine surgeon in the U.S. by those who've had the pleasure of being repaired by him.
>
> It wasn't by chance that I went to Dr. Bae, I researched spine surgeons in the U.S. extensively and interviewed several before concluding Dr. Bae was clearly the most talented surgeon I could select. And he didn't disappoint me!
> The entire staff at The Spine Institute Center for Spinal Restoration is very professional and highly efficient. This included scheduling my appointments, working with my insurance company, coordinating my surgeries and all follow-up appointments, including phone calls checking on my recovery progress.
>
> Tackling my complicated issue required two separate cervical spine surgeries. The first consisted of a posterior laminotomy, medial facetectomy and foraminotomy at level C7/T1, followed 3-weeks later with a complete 2-level anterior disc replacement at levels C5/C6 & C6/C7. State of the art titanium/polymer artificial discs were securely implanted, providing me with a full range of motion and pain-free use of my neck.
>
> Both surgeries were performed at the Advanced Surgical Center of Beverly Hills on an outpatient basis, which would have been unimaginable just 5-years ago. Amazingly, my disc replacement surgery began at 7am and I was in my vehicle being driven home at 1pm the same day, wearing only a soft neck brace for the ride home, which I never needed to wear again.
>
> My recovery and pain management has been way better than anticipated. In fact, the most difficult part of my entire recovery has been forcing myself to take it easy to give myself time to heal, simply because I feel so good.
>
> It's only been 7-weeks since my second surgery and I honestly feel like I can physically do anything without pain or limitations. I'm patiently waiting for Dr. Bae's clearance before returning to my regular workouts, active lifestyle, and pursuit of competitive golf.
>
> My recommendation to anyone in the U.S. searching for the finest spine surgeon available to diagnose and perform spine surgery on them is to include Dr. Hyun Bae on your list to interview. Resist the urge of selecting your spine surgeon simply based on geographical conveniences. Travel if necessary, your spine is too important.

> Update: Dr. Bhalla performed spine surgery on me on December 38, 2020. Prior to the surgery he came to my bedside and explained what would be entailed in my surgery. I had a lumbar laminectomy L3-L5, instrumented fusion L4-L5, fluoroscopy, allograft ad autograft. He also performed Sciatic joint fusion on me on Dec 19, 2019…Two rods and 7 screws later I am relatively pain free! He is friendly, compassionate and allays my fears prior to the start of any procedure. After the laminectomy, I saw him in the hospital the next morning at 6:45 am! There he was asking if the pain had subsided and it had. Post operative care provided more of the same compassion and general concern for my wellbeing. I have referred many of my friends, family and associates to Dr. Amandeep Bhalla. While I have so much care and admiration for Dr. Bhalla, I would also like to give a 5 star rating to his Nurse. Ronnie is a Breath of fresh air! She is kind, friendly and compassionate. She puts puts you at ease prior to seeing Dr. Bhalla. I have found that I can get an appointment quickly and once you check in for the appointment, Ronnie calls you in quickly and Dr. Bhalla sees you very quick. It is a very well run office.
>
> I was referred to Dr. Bhalla for lower back/sciatic pain. He is friendly, courteous and provides a thorough explanation of my problems as gleaned from the MRI. He assisted me in putting aside my fears of an epidural. On the day of my procedure, he came to see me prior to starting and I was greeted with a warm smile. I would like to also give kudos to his Physician Assistant, Mykeal. They are both young medical professionals who strive to make their patients feel at ease through discussion and information. The entire staff of Dr. Bhalla’s office (Corinne the Scheduler), Yvette (his Nurse), and the staff at the Surgery Center should be commended for fast, courteous and friendly interactions with their patients.

> It is my great pleasure to give Dr Sanjay Khurana a five star rating.
>

> The Team of Dr. Garabekyan and his Medical Assistant Zohra are like no other. I was in denial of the seriousness of my hip pain. He was highly recommended by a friend. During my initial visit Dr. Garabekyan spent time explaining what was causing my hip pain and provided clarification of treatment options. We both knew that this would be a surgical case. He was patient enough with me to work on my schedule and not push surgery until I had time off from work. Now to Zohra, she is amazing! Had multiple issues with my insurance company approving imaging and the actual surgery, but she worked thoroughly to get everything approved in time.
>
> I am now almost two-months post-op and OMG wish I had heard of Dr. Garabekyan years ago. I no longer have pain in my hip! He's a godsend!!! Not to mention his work ethic, bedside manner, and how much he truly cares for each patient. 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone having issues with their hips

> I couldn’t be more pleased with my entire experience ( from initial pre-op evaluation to 3 month post-op appointment). I am a nurse, and felt extremely confident with Dr. Millstein’s surgical expertise and his manner in which he spoke to me. He thoroughly explained everything to me, and he took time to answer all my questions. My surgical outcome is wonderful. The entire office staff is consistently professional, helpful and friendly. I am extremely grateful that I was able to have my surgery with Dr. Millstein.

> Dr. Khurana did 2 surgeries - one on my lower back and one on my neck. His care was excellent. It was a complicated surgery and I have recovered fully from the pain I was suffering from. The surgery was successful. He and his team were outstanding. The facilities were top notch. I was treated at LA Spine Group in Marina del Rey. I highly recommend Dr. Khurana. He and his team stayed in touch with me for follow up and made sure that I was healing properly.

> In early 2017 I slipped on some ice and suffered a stable fracture of the L1 vert. Once the trauma of the fall settled and I thought I could return to normal, I soon discovered I'd never see normal again. The fall changed EVERYTHING, as most traumatic injuries do. I was also suffering from a bad knee I believe was exacerbated by the fall. About a year and a half after the fall, I went to see Dr. Bae on the recommendation of my Dr. He took a look at my MRI and noted I had a bone spur hitting the nerve someplace below the L1 where the break was, something others had missed (bulging discs, not much to do about it). He assured me this was easy to fix and I'd be good as new. BACK SURGERY!!! AHHHHH!!!! I was terrified. He noted that while I had some disc degeneration, he felt my spine overall looked no worse than someone else's my age, or his even, which made me feel good--he's young.
>
> Anyway, in November 2018 I had surgery to fix the bone spur. I've had several surgeries in my life and I woke up sick and out of it every time. This time I woke up like I just had the best nap of my life. I was up and going to the bathroom shortly after I woke up and I was home a few hours later. The office follow-up was great, and I thank Lisa Cano for her kindness and thoroughness during a small rough patch about three weeks post surgery.
>
> I'd been feeling a little blah and I could tell I was retaining water throughout my body. I just felt...swollen. I got a massage, and while the masseuse was very careful around the incision, she moved things around, as massage will do. A few hours passed and as I got up from the couch to go to bed, my back was wet. Long story short, the incision opened up and was leaking fluid. I immediately called the office (around 9pm, so it was the exchange I got), and Lisa called back immediately, asked me to take a picture, then told me how to cover it, etc. and had me come in the following morning. Dr. Bae was extremely concerned, said he'd never seen this so far out post surgery. He was NOT dismissive or cavalier, which I appreciated. His concern actually made me calmer about it (we can address the psychology of that another time) He swabbed for infection, then dressed it and sent me home with dressings and orders to take pictures after every dressing change. Within a day or two he called and said he wanted to go back in and surgically put a drain in. I finished a round of antibiotics he normally gives post surgery, and he put me on a second round. I was very against going under again, and within a few days the incision began tunneling. It was clear I had an infection but it wasn't bad enough to make me ill-no fever, no pain to speak of, just a little uncomfortable and a lot unnerving. He finally prescribed a different, stronger antibiotic and within a couple of days the tunneling stopped and the incision closed.
>
> These things happen. Drs work diligently to prevent infection, but it happens. The competency and care I experienced with Dr. Bae and his PA Lisa cannot be overstated. I was not worried for a second, and when I objected to going under again for the drain, Dr. Bae was firm that we shouldn't wait too long, but he didn't push. I sent Lisa gross pictures of the wound and the bandages every day, and it was enough to ruin the strongest of stomachs. Her communication was right on, and frequent.
>
> Saving the best for last, my back is good as new. The only negative was that with a repaired back my knee situation came to the forefront and proceeded to cause me suffering the back couldn't hold a candle to. I got that taken care of in September of 2019 (see my review of Dr Andrew Yun).
>
> I cannot say enough about Dr. Bae and his staff. He is just wonderful and he'll be my go-to if any future issues arise.

> Dr. Sanjay Khurana is an awesome surgeon. This was my second surgery in ten years. The first was at St. Marys in Long Beach. It did not go well for me there. I was never the same. I was very reluctant and scared knowing that I would have to relive that nightmare from ten years ago.
>
> Well, here I am two days post-op and I'm walking slowly but without any balance issues or complications. I am very grateful to Dr. Khurana. Before, I could not walk a half city block without falling to the ground in pain. I felt helpless and scared. I feel some discomfort after the surgery but that is to be expected. This is nothing like I encountered in my first surgery ten years ago.
>
> I put off the surgery as long as I could because I was genuinely frightened. All is great now! I feel twenty years younger. If I have must require further procedeures Dr. Sanjay Kharana will be the doctor I choose.
>
> In closing, it was a wonderful experience. I had the procedure performed at the Diagnostic & Interventional Surgical Center. The staff is wonderful. They are extremely accomodating and genuinely concerned.
>
> Again, a big thank you to Dr. Khurana and all of his wonderful staff who made this happen.

> Dr. Leonel corrected a very painful neck surgery that almost left me paralyzed. He was also able to discern that I was traumatized and needed help with this and made my primary aware of it. He is a very talented and highly professional and qualified surgeon. Especially using technology to explain MRIs, scans, and x-rays in consultation with a patient. He's very understanding with authorizing time off of work and helping with disability benefits. He's very cautious and warns you sternly about postoperative care. I really like the way he dresses and his style because after all he is a Beverly Hills doctor. His staff and office environment is very calming and organized. I highly recommend this doctor and Cedars Sinai Hospital.

> I someb managed to mess up my back pretty bad Memorial Day weekend. I contacted dr Bhalla's office on a Tuesday morning and got an appointment for the next day. He scheduled me for a MRI on Thursday. Got results Friday morning and the GOOD doctor said I needed surgery. My pain level on a 1-10 scale was approximately 17! He got his team together and managed to get me into the hospital that afternoon and performed surgery at 6:00AM the following day. When I recovered from the anesthetic the pain was gone. It's important to note the he had things on his agenda that took him out of the country but that did not stop him from making a follow up call to assure all was well. He also arranged for my release the next day. I'm grateful to have had a skilled and caring doctor. Hopefully I won't need his surgical skills in the future.
>
> Well, I had another problem with my lower back that required the GOOD doctor do another surgery in January. As hoped and believed, it had great results. I just left his office about 20 minutes ago for a follow up check and ALL IS WELL!!

> I chose Dr. Khurana from three other neck surgeons on my research list. I’m so happy I did! I’m one week post cervical fusion and disc replacement surgery and I can feel the difference already. His personality and kindness of time to explain the surgery and answer all my questions allowed me to make my decision and go into surgery with no fear or anxiety. His staff is amazing and on point and the surgery center nurses and anesthesiologists were 1st class. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the greatest. He’s a 10! Thank you so much and I look forward to my post surgery follow up to Thank him again personally.

> Dr. Khurana communicated very well and laid out surgical treatment option. I’d done physical therapy with out improvement, and he evaluated my MRI and x-rays with a expert’s eye.
>
> My critical issues were degenerative spondylolisthesis and stenosis that together had come to make walking more than a couple hundred feet difficult with dangerous potential for a bad fall.
>
> Dr. Khurana explained his surgical approach and I knew I’d found the right surgeon. As he explained, he’s a spine specialist; that’s “all” he does. He uses a minimally invasive approach that makes the surgery much less traumatic for his patients (but probably more technically challenging for the surgeon). I’d been scared of front and back access approaches I’d read about that involved extensive dissection, so I was greatly relieved.
>
> In my case, I had minimal post-operative pain, (just used cold packs a few times) and one week post-op I’m walking well (with a walker for safety for a few more days) and a back brace to remind me not to Bend, Lift or Twist.

> Dr. Bae saved my dear friend's life. Literally. After a very successful back surgery, she recently had a follow-up exam. A lump he observed in a joint in her finger prompted him to ask her a seemingly odd question, "Did you smoke when you were young?" She admitted she had. His suspicion piqued, he sent her to a rheumatologist, who ordered a CT Scan -- which revealed a small irregularity in her lung. Needle biopsy confirmed cancer. Surgery got it all, and further testing confirmed it had been caught at Stage 1. What Dr. Bae did for my friend SAVED HER LIFE, and is nothing short of a miracle.

> I hold Dr. Garabekyan in the highest regard possible. In the last four months, he performed two surgeries on me: a hip replacement surgery on my right side, and arthroscopic surgery of my right knee. I've thus been through something of an ordeal: pre-surgery, surgery, post-op, in-home physical therapy, outpatient PT. Through it all, Dr. Garabekyan was a consummate professional, the best of the best, a veritable magician with the scalpel: minimizing scars and getting me back on my feet post haste. I now walk pain-free and glitch-free. Every time I walk, I am consciously grateful for the very fact that I'm walking. My gratitude extends gushingly to Dr. Garabekyan and his staff. He took the time to answer patiently my every question, and he allayed my qualms about the procedures, and his keen judgment gave me the confidence to go forward. I made the decision to drive all the way from the western-most part of LA Country to his office in Beverly Hill, even though LA traffic can back up and make like miserable. But it was worth it. I feel I had the best medical care in all of Los Angeles. Dr. Garabekyan spent as much time explaining things as needed, and his bedside manner exudes and inspires confidence. His follow-up care was superb. In a minute, I'd pick him to perform surgery on one of my joints gone bad. He's business-like but also affable and warm. I would recommend him to anyone on a dime!

> I just celebrated my one year post op from a major C1 - T2 fusion. My review almost a year ago is still on Yelp. My life has changed radically because I went in knowing that I made the decision to lose mobility to save my quality of life. Having wished for death from the pain I was having, I look back and know I made the right choice. Dr. Bae has walked along side me during this year. He has always been a straight shooter, (and I think some people might struggle with that kind of upfront honesty), but I find it refreshing. He never promised my life would be cake walk, but he said that regarding my pain, I would be at least 85% better. I'd say it's better than that. When I first had my surgery, he thought I would have tremendous pain post op. I had none. The only difficulty has been getting used to not moving my head like I did. But honestly, those who know me would tell you I used to lay in bed all the time I wasn't working not being able to face another day. I will take this life instead. Next month I am starting to deal with my low back, as I have put that off for a long time. There is no one else I would trust with my care. I find Dr. Bae to be the most intelligent and sharp surgeon I've ever met, and I have met many. I continue to find his diagnostic skills second to none. I find him to be caring, funny, and personable. I offered my phone number to him for anyone who had to have a very serious surgery like mine so that they could speak with me directly. I still offer that. I am a very busy person, and I continue to fulfill my role as a college professor in as effective a manner as I ever had at the age of 61. I owe that to Dr. Bae for giving me my life back. One year later and still raving about this man!!! Finally, his staff rock. They are all kind and helpful, and I have pestered them enough to where they could have been annoyed. They answer every question and are also kind and patient. What a blessing to have found Dr. Bae.

> I've been seeing Dr. Millstein for almost 10 years now. Not every day of course. And not every year either. Within those 10 years, there could be stretches of 3 or 4 years where I didn't need to see him at all. However, when I do need to see Dr. Millstein, it's always a stellar experience. The combination of his hip sense of humor along with his superb skill honed over years of practice make for one of the best doctors I've ever had. The 2013 knee surgery and 2016 shoulder replacement were both amazing. Yes, he's not the only doctor who could've done this for me but I can't imagine I could've been in better hands. My visit yesterday was a follow-up. He went over x-rays with me and explained everything in a way that my non-medical brain could comprehend (as he always does). I'm confident every patient of his walks away believing they are his favorite patient. He is simply the best in L.A. Yes, I realize that's a bold statement considering I haven't met every orthopedic surgeon in the city but I stand by it all the same.

> I don't even know where to start. From the first appointment to the end of surgery and post-op care, Dr. Bhalla and his entire staff where wonderful. Dr. Bhalla is an amazing surgeon. My Lumbar stabilization and Fusion was done so beautifully that I could tell that the pain was gone immediately after the surgery. I had total support throughout my recovery. The doctor and his staff where all compassionate and gave me the time I needed for questions. I was treated with respect throughout the entire process. The Spinal Section at Memorial Hospital in Long Beach was also great. I am deeply grateful for my care and the successful result.
