Big should out to his anesthesiologist who was also amazing and so kind. He was kind, professional and took his time explaining the procedure in detail and all the recovery steps. He also received medical massages, chiropractic care, acupuncture treatments, steroid injections and two epidurals. Unfortunately he received little relief and nothing long term. Because of his age he felt fearful of surgery. But his pain became so unbearable he was willing to take a chance with surgical intervention. He was referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Brandon Ortega. From the initial consult and all following visits Dr Ortega displayed a level of professionalism, expertise and care that far exceeded our expectations. It has been 3 months since his procedure. My father is now 100% pain free. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Ortega and his staff ( Elena) for the exceptional care he has received. From the moment we walked into the office, we experienced a warm, caring, and superior staff: everyone from assistants at the front desk, the x-ray technician, Dr Estess' assistant, and Dr. Estess' herself. Dr. Estess took the time to explain everything to my daughter and me and to offer care options. My daughter suffers from anxiety disorder and while she was anxious in the outer waiting room, once she met the x-ray tech her anxiety subsided. He had a reputation as one of the top spine surgeons in the country. This was something I’d heard touted numerous times over the years. > > Selecting a doctor with Dr Khurana’s prominence to render a second opinion on a surgery I was scheduled to undergo was comforting to my unsettled mind. I was seeking confidence that the surgery I was about to undergo was appropriate. Alternatives approaches hadn’t been discussed and in the absence of such, I was left to assume surgery was my only option. I just didn’t know the degree of necessity. Was it absolutely necessary? Unsure as I was, I was racing toward another double ADR surgery. I already had double ADR surgery some years ago. Following through with the surgery as planned would render the majority of my cervical spine artificial. Was this even prudent? How many quadruple ADRs exist in the universe? What are the outcomes? I had questions and needed confirmation from another spine specialist that additional ADR surgery was my best course of action. > > Dr. Khurana analyzed my cervical imaging and surgical history. Dr. Khurana may be a highly regarded spine surgeon, but he’s a good doctor because he understands the importance of communication and through it, connects. He explained in detail the pros and cons without sugar coating it. The surgery went great. Three weeks later she landed in the hospital on an unrelated issue, Dr Ramkumar learned off her admission and visited her several times over the next month to check on her. I believe the saying “ I don’t care how much you know until I know how much you care!” He cared about the most important person in my life and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a caring and proficient surgeon. He has the best bedside manners, he pays attention to what your needs and concerns are, he thinks of you only when he's dealing with you. After my surgery and I went home the next day, he called me to check to see how things were going. At the time they were going well. The next day there was an issue. I had also received a text message from his office so I called in and they got him on the phone. He explained what was going on and called a prescription in for my issue. He always keeps the patient the priority and I personally appreciate that. Also, the day of my surgery, as he was heading to his prep area he looked at my son and told him "I'm going to take good care of your mom", that sealed the deal for me. He has always been an exceptional doctor for me. And his office personnel are awesome and special. You cannot write a review without mentioning them. They set the tone for the visit and the office and then Dr Bhalla completes the visit. % exceptional in my opinion. And I can't close this out without mentioning Dr Bhalla wonderful smile .
