> I can’t praise Dr Ramkumar enough. In the middle of April I injured my right knee. Once I had an mri and a confirmed rupture of almost every ligament in my knee and some meniscus damage I knew I had a long road ahead. I was referred to Dr Ramkumar by a local urgent care and was able to get an appointment the following week. After doing some research on my particular injuries, MCL, ACL, PCL, Menisci damage I knew I needed someone who had the knowledge and the skills to successfully repair my knee. I did have some apprehension just knowing how complex the repair could be, but after meeting Dr Ramkumar and discussing the case and the plan of care I felt so much better. Dr Ramkumar explained my injuries thoroughly and also discussed how he planned to repair the joint, including harvesting some patella tendon, installing some aftermarket tendons, and even a full internal MCL bracing, I knew he was building my knee out like I played for the LA Rams. He developed a full rehabilitation protocol for my multiligamentous repair, and provided me with enough time to heal and get back to activity. Dr Ramkumar has a great attitude and always makes you feel as if you’re the only patient he has to see that day. He takes the time to have that conversation with you and ensure understanding. I couldn’t be happier with my new knee and I highly recommend Dr Ramkumar!

> TL:DR - go to this surgeon.he is the best.
>
> This was my second ACL Repair, a decade after the first and on the opposite knee. Dr. Ramkumar is an expert! I had my first surgery done at Kerlan and Jobe, and Dr. Ramkumar was noticeably better. His history of working with athletes is clearly evident. He boils down all the information and treatment plan in such an approachable way that it makes the long road to recovery seem very attainable and achievable. I hope I never have to use him again but if I get injured I know who I will call.

> Dr Prem Ramkumar and his Physical Therapists Mina and his team provided me with excellent care. I remember feeling nervous, anxious and scared. Dr Ramkumar and his Physical therapy team all gave me comfort and hope and assurance from the first consultation. Dr Ramkumar made sure I received my pain medication once I had run out. He personally contacted me to make sure. It’s not every day that a medical professional who does what Dr did for me. Dr Ramkumar and his PT team instilled in me the confidence I needed from the beginning made the entire process much easier for me. I’m truly grateful for not only having a successful ACL/ Meniscus knee repair surgery but for the peace of mind that they all provided me throughout the process. Every step of the way , Dr Ramkumar and Mina Physical Therapist and his team were there for me offering reassurance and clarity ensuring that I was not just another patient but a valued individual and deserving of the best care. Their commitment to excellence and patient care is truly remarkable. I’m blessed to have had Dr Ramkumar as my surgeon and also Blessed to have had Mina as my Physical Therapist along with his amazing team . You all made the difference in my healing journey . With deepest gratitude to them all. I strongly recommend Long Beach Lakewood Orthopedic Institute.

> I have never had a major injury up until a few months ago. I was in denial after hurting my knee while playing slow pitch softball, but when I finally got myself to the doctor it was confirmed that I had a complete tear of the ACL and lateral meniscus. After meeting with Dr Ramkumar I let him know that I needed to have him fix me up quick because I had a full summer ahead with my 4 kids. After our first meeting I was told to build up my quad muscles to assist in my recovery. 3 weeks after our first meeting I had surgery, and just 3 days later I was out walking around on my crutches to cheer my son on while he ran a mile fun run. Within a week my pain was gone, of course my body was healing so discomfort is expected. One week after surgery my physical therapist was able to bend my knee (without pain, but some discomfort) to over 100°! At 4 weeks post op I was walking without my crutches or my knee brace. I am nearly 6 weeks post op and I am walking normally and am eagerly and patiently excited to start running around and getting back to the old me! This recovery process has been unexpectedly smooth but I have done the work and am ever so gracious to Dr Ramkumar and his team. On the surgical table I asked his team to let him know I want to be able to run faster and beat my son in a race, so I’ll be checking back in with that verdict!

> ACL Reconstruction & Meniscal Repair Success
>
> After consulting with several orthopedic specialists about my ACL and meniscus injuries, I ultimately chose Dr. Ramkumar—and I am so glad I did!! During my first appointment, his approach stood out: as clear, detailed, compassionate, and above reproach. He took the time to explain every option available to me, answering anll my questions, and immediately gave me confidence in his care.
>
> His entire support team deserves recognition. His Nurse Practitioner was attentive and reassuring throughout the process. The Surgery Coordinator made the pre-op scheduling seamless, and the front desk team was consistently welcoming and efficient. A special shout-out to the Disability Forms Specialist as well—quick, knowledgeable, and kind, which made dealing with the paperwork stress-free.
>
> The pre-op process was impressively thorough. Dr. Ramkumar’s comprehensive website laid out everything I needed to know—from the days leading up to surgery, to what to expect the day of, to post-op recovery protocols. That kind of accessibility and detail truly made a difference in helping me feel prepared and empowered.
>
> A few days after surgery, I had a minor concern and messaged his office—Dr. Ramkumar responded almost immediately, which speaks volumes about his dedication and attentiveness to patient care.
>
> Thanks to his clearly communicated physical therapy protocol, I am pleasantly surprised to be back to most of my usual activities just 4 short weeks after surgery. I never expected such progress so soon, and it’s a direct result of the quality of care I received.
>
> To Dr. Ramkumar and your incredible staff: thank you for guiding me through this journey with expertise, efficiency, and genuine care. I’m beyond grateful.

> Dr. Ramkumar is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. He performed my daughter’s ACL surgery on April 8th, and we could not be more grateful for the care, skill, and attention he provided throughout the entire process. From the initial consultation to the post-op follow-ups, he was thorough, and patient.
> Just one month after surgery, my daughter is already doing bike therapy and progressing remarkably well. Thanks to Dr. Ramkumar’s expert approach, skills and guidance, she’s on track for a full recovery with hopes to be completed by December. His dedication to helping young athletes return to their sport safely and confidently is truly commendable.
> If your child ever faces an ACL injury, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Ramkumar. I strongly encourage young athletes and their families to pursue treatment with him first hands on—he is truly the best when it comes to ACL injuries and recovery.

> Best Surgeon Ever!
>
> Tore my ACL and never had any prior surgeries beforehand, so you could imagine how scared I was to undergo my first one. I was truly blessed to have been referred to Doctor Ramkumar for my condition as he is not only overqualified, but also cares deeply for his patients. He goes above and beyond to fix other underlying issues that could potentially affect the progress of my healing and mobility. Even after several months post-surgery, I never had any complications as Dr. Ramkumar stayed updated on my condition, making sure I was hitting every milestone on my journey towards full recovery. I can whole heartedly say that this man changed the trajectory of my life for the better.

> Dr Allyson Estess is my new favorite MD...
> and I've seen a lot sadly.
> Open, informative pre op that made me feel both informed and safe.
> Incredible knee - ACL and meniscus tears - surgery, thorough, she went beyond to check everything in my knee and found a tear she wouldn't have seen if she hadn't made the extra effort.

> Dr. RAMKUMAR too great care of me. I got an appointment to have surgery on my knee rather quickly. He noticed I had body art around the area where ACL reconstruction would be at and made sure to do his best work as you can tell in the photos you can barely see a scar. He also did thorough explanation of what the surgery would fix. He made it a point to also make sure I keep on track with my physical therapy and to always check in with my physical therapist to see what my progress would be.
>
> Dr. RAMKUMAR also took the time to explain how long the process would be how much work I would need to put into it and what his plan was to get me back to as close to 100% as I possibly could. All in all, Dr. Ramkumar is a great surgeon and I would totally recommend him To anyone that has any questions about any injuries to their knees.

> I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Ramkumar and his team. My knee injury was by far the worst injury I’ve ever had. It was scary and life altering. I needed a complete ACL reconstruction (using a patellar tendon graft), posterolateral corner reconstruction (using a cadaver ligament), and my peroneal nerve needed to be separated and released from my torn bicep femoris tendon that was pulling on it, causing me to experience foot drop. I have limited medical knowledge, but Dr. Ramkumar has always happily taken the time to explain the prognosis, plan of action, and future goals to me without hesitation or judgement. I really appreciate his straight-forward answers, even when they aren’t happy answers. He has been 100% real and honest with me throughout the entire process and I’m very grateful for that. I am 13 months post-op and my knee feels great! After a year of physical therapy and diligent work at home, I am seeing great improvements in my foot drop as well, a sign that the nerve he freed up is healing properly. I definitely recommend Dr. Ramkumar for anyone who needs knee or hip surgery or consultation. His confidence, knowledge, action plans, pre/post-op care, and staff are top notch!

> I can’t say enough about how incredible my experience has been with Dr. Eric Millstein and his team! After needing an ACL revision, I was understandably nervous and wanted the best care possible. From the initial consultation to my follow-up appointments, Dr. Millstein has been nothing short of amazing. His knowledge, precision, and genuine concern for my well-being put me at ease, and his team provided outstanding support every step of the way.
>
> The surgery went smoothly, and my recovery has been faster and easier than I ever expected. Dr. Millstein’s expertise and attention to detail are unmatched, and his team’s professionalism and kindness made all the difference. I’m so grateful to have found such an exceptional orthopedic surgeon, and I know without a doubt that he will be my go-to if I ever need orthopedic care in the future. Thank you, Dr. Millstein and team, for your dedication and incredible care!

> Dr Ramkumar did an ACL reconstruction on me and his duty of care was amazing. On arrival he was very professional and extremely personable which put me at ease starting from our initial meeting, surgery and throughout aftercare.
> I followed every detail of his instructions which he provides online which was very helpful. My physical therapist couldn’t believe that I was able return to work just 2 1/2 weeks after surgery and asked if he was wearing a cape… lol ( definitely has some special gift).
> He ensures the highest level of care and compassion, making sure every detail is explained and understood, which makes you feel completely at ease and in very capable hands. He is an asset to his profession and I highly recommend him!

> Dr. Ramkumar is a one of a kind master of his craft. I can’t say enough good things about the man, but I hope my story sheds some light on his skill, character, & may help someone else who like I did, feels confused, afraid, & is unsure of the future before them.
>
> I met Dr. Ramkumar during the hardest time in my life, & yet trusting him as my surgeon has surpassed all expectations. I can honestly say his guidance and support have been the best experience I’ve had dealing with the US medical system in my entire life.
>
> I’m a 25 year old professional multi-discipline extreme sports athlete. (Cliff Jumping, Surfing, Snowboarding, Parkour, Freediving, etc.) This year, after over a decade of training, I suffered the worst injury of my career. I fully tore BOTH my ACLs (and a bit of meniscus). The tears happened 3 months apart & although I had an MRI, the first ACL tear had been missed by a previous physician which is what eventually led to the other knee getting injured in the same way.
>
> When I walked into Dr. Ramkumars office to get the second knee injury looked at he felt both of my knees by hand and without even seeing the MRI yet, told me he was confident I had torn both. After looking at my MRIs he immediately spotted the tears.
>
> He’s new, but he’s cutting edge, doing techniques that a lot of the older surgeons aren’t, because they’re more comfortable with the techniques they learned back in the day. He broke down my injury & the details of my recommended surgery in English instead of usual medical jargon, told me with confidence he could get me back to being an elite athlete again, & I’ll never forget what he said after suggesting the patellar tendon graph…
> “listen man this is the Ferrari of ACL replacement surgeries. I’m gonna fix you up”
>
> Since then Dr. Ramkumar has been attentive & invested in my successful recovery. Texting me with updates, checking in every week & giving me loads of advice.
>
> Since I’m one of the few Bi lateral ACL tear patients around, (meaning I tore both at the same time) he went the extra mile to consult colleagues in the east coast with more experience to make sure he had as much information as possible before recommending anything to me.
>
> I have felt confident in every choice he’s made, I’ve now done the first surgery, and am already a week ahead of my recovery timeline, 20 days post surgery I’m walking around semi-normal, 90° flexation, full extension/toe touching, and getting exponentially better each day.
>
> I have no doubt that in proper time & consistent PT I will be back to the level I was before any of this.
>
> I couldn’t recommend someone higher if you’re suffering from a hip or knee injury, especially if you’re an athlete where a full 100% recovery is vital to pursuing your passion & returning to what you love most in the world.

He gave me two scenarios as to what will happen during surgery, I feel very confident with both. Drs office is clean and beautiful, staff is very sweet and very helpful. > This is way overdue. Dr. Millstein performed surgery for me on 11/17/17. I had a graft replace for an ACL and meniscus repaired. His communication throughout the process including texting and calling me post op. was a big surprise and also very helpful.
>
> Not all surgeons are alike. Whether it's their ability, or bedside manner, or communication pre/post op. you will see quite a variance between these types of professionals. Dr. Millstein nails all the categories and I am so grateful that Cedars referred me to him and that my insurance worked with him.
>
> I would highly recommend him if you are injured and need a great Orthopedic surgeon. Personally, I hope I only have to see him for follow up appointments and not another injury, but if "life happens" I would see him again.

> After having consultations with three well-known orthopedic surgeons in the Los Angeles area, I selected Dr. Millstein to reconstruct my ACL in my right knee. Dr. Millstein took the time to explain my options in person and we came to a joint decision where I had 100% confidence. I opted to use my hamstring tendons, instead of patellar or cadaver tendons, as it gave me the best chance to continue skiing, biking, surfing, playing tennis, and participating in all of the sports that I love. Within one year, I was back to 95% and now don't even wear a brace. My right knee actually feels tighter and stronger than my left! What convinced me to select Dr. Millstein was the amount of attention he gave during the consultation and the fact that he was able to diagnose my ACL tear through joint manipulation even before he saw the MRI. It was clear he know what we was doing. He even called me on Saturday after my surgery to check in and see how I was doing. Thank you, Dr. Millstein!

> Dr Millstein is Awesome! Amazing Down to earth yet maintain a complete professional bedside manor. Got Cut off on my Motorcycle by someone who tried to cheat & turn right into me (from a Left Turn Only Lane)... Tore My ACL, went to the good Doc! Made everything easy for an Ex-Jock Football head like myself, and the best part, gave me some options to think about(esp because i would miss a significant amount of time from work). Staff is Awesome! From the Lovely Ladies in the Front Desk, Awesome Lady who always takes my vitals, history, & if i have any new issues/questions.
>
> Prep for Sugery day...The Surgery Coordinator & anyone else you may need to reach, not only give u a easy to understand packet, but are there to answer any questions/emails. From my experience emails are fastest to get a response (love it becuase i am one to forget things if its not written down or in a email)

> Surgery Day was a breeze! Had the normal before surgery Jitters, but the good Doc & Medical staff. Made it very calm, informed so i had no surprises. Woke up, some month or so later, actually saw the "scars" & as time passed it healing, and to my Awesome Suprise, it seriously looked like a small scratch. Like I have Scars from when i was little that look more like surgery scars than the awesome work Dr. Millstein did.

> Yes, I am a satisfied, happy, & will be a life long pt if i ever(knock on wood) get a injury. I would Highly Recommend any One I love & care about to Dr. Millstein.
>
> Also,
> If you have see him at Century City location, give yourself Exxxxxtra time to go through the underground parking (if you're running late make sure to make a call Before you hit the structure. lol)... There is Valet, but you still have to make your way to the Elevators & take it up.
