This review is long overdue from a very happy and ever so grateful patient! For the last few years, I was experiencing left hip pain, which I thought was radiating and caused from my back, since I had a longstanding history of low back pain. I took medication and waited for my hip pain to resolve, but to no avail. I soon started limping and couldn’t walk for more than a short distance. I was out of breath and short winded from the pain. Unable to stand, sit, or sleep comfortably. I finally decided to pursue it. I was suffering and it has reached the point of affecting every aspect and quality of my life. After getting x-rays and an MRI of my hip ,I was diagnosed with 1-End stage Osteoarthritis 2-Bone spurs 3-Advanced AVN=Avascular Necrosis Long story short, I definitely needed surgery, a total left hip replacement. THA-Total Hip Arthroplasty After the initial shock and denial, I decided to do extensive research to find the right Orthopedic Surgeon. I wanted a highly skilled hip specialist, one who had done lots and lots of hip replacement surgeries, not an orthopedic surgeon who does all kinds of procedures and had done only a few hip surgeries. I also wanted a surgeon who was skilled in doing the Direct Anterior Approach. (Muscles are not cut) Anterior approach means= Less invasive, less painful, quicker healing, and as an added bonus, a smaller incision approx. 2-3 inches. (A little vanity here on my part). Also, I wanted a surgeon I would feel comfortable with and I liked. Although, skill and expertise should supersede liking your surgeon. This seemed like a very tall order and an impossible task. I finally narrowed it down to three surgeons and scheduled consultations with each one. Unhappy with the first two surgeons, and feeling a little hopeless, I went to see Dr. Garabekyan. I’m so glad I did. Dr. Garabekyan was the one I felt the most comfortable with. I had already done my extensive research prior to meeting him and had read all of his stellar reviews from multiple, very happy patients gushing over their great surgical results. He suggested we try a conservative approach initially, rather than rush me into the operating room. Another point for him on his scorecard I was keeping. He was professional, and kind. Explaining everything precisely, patiently, and clearly. He put me at ease, and I was ready to proceed with my surgery. I knew I had finally found my surgeon. Surgery was on 2/25/19. I was released from the hospital the following day, standing, walking, and was on my way to recovery. Within a few days I felt the preoperative pain and agony gone, it had disappeared. What I was feeling was surgical pain. I was willing to endure this pain, because I knew well, it would be temporary. With a few short weeks, I felt much better. I’ve been feeling fantastic for weeks now. Never better!! Dr. Garabekyan gave me a new lease on life. I’m a new person. I smile more, I’m happier, and no longer limp and most importantly I am PAIN FREE!!! His assistant Zohra is awesome. She’s helpful, nice, and professional. From my first office visit till now, she’s been great. I can always count on her. If you or someone you know is suffering from hip pain, I urge you to go see Dr. Garabekyan. He is a humble gem, and down to earth,. This man doesn’t possess an ounce of arrogance. BUT most importantly, he’s very highly skilled and he truly takes pride in his profession. He will do everything in his power to give you the best surgical outcome. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Garabekyan. May you live a long, healthy, and prosperous life and continue to bestow upon us your surgical expertise and gift.

I have been in pain and misdiagnosed for 16 years (I’m now 42) and I even had an unnecessary back surgery 11 years ago thinking that was the cause of my pain. Last June 2018, after zip lining on vacation, it became very apparent that my pain was coming from my hips because I could barely walk. This time around I did my due-diligence and after an MRI showed severe hip dysplasia in both hips, I saw 5 orthopedic surgeons. The first three doctors basically said I needed to wait until it was bone on bone to have a hip replacement. They all said I might find some relief with PRP, pain meds and PT, but that I was to basically suffer until I would qualify for a replacement. I absolutely would not accept that reality. I was 41 years old (at the time) with a 6 year old child living in what felt like an 80 year olds body. I was referred to one of the best hip replacement doctors in the country and after examining my x-rays he determined I needed a hip preservation surgery (PAO). It sounded fantastic until I saw the pamphlet. It looked so extremely scary and I wasn’t sure I could go through something so invasive. That doctor referred me to Dr Garabekyan, which was a life changing moment for me. After meeting with Dr G (as most call him) I immediately trusted him. He sat with me for almost an hour answering any and all questions I could think of. He was extremely honest with everything, the procedure, and what exactly I was going to endure. I was scared, but I knew in my gut I needed this PAO surgery. The recovery was intense and everything about it frightened me, but Dr G always made me feel at ease. He was always accessible to me from day 1. Whether it was some random question or a serious concern, he would get back to me immediately. November 26, 2018, was the first day of the rest of my life. I tell Dr G all the time that he saved my life. After months of intense physical therapy and doing exactly what I was told to do, 6 months later, I am almost pain free. This is what my life had been missing. I had been suffering all of these years because no one ever suggested an MRI of my hip. It’s still undetermined whether I’ll need surgery on the opposite hip, but Dr G was a God-send to me. I lost hope and thought I would just live in pain and succumb to pain pills for the rest of my life, and now, for the first time in years, I haven’t taken any opioid for pain several days in a row. I owe everything to Dr Garabekyan and wouldn’t change a thing (except the chance to do the surgery sooner) if I had the chance. Not only a terrific surgeon, but his bed side manner and team are top-notch. Without a bat of an eye, I would highly recommend Dr Garabekyan for any hip related injuries. Guaranteed, you will be in the BEST hands possible!

Dr. Garabekyan is extremely knowledgable. He was able to diagnose the cause of my hip pain in the first visit, despite the condition being quite rare. Thankfully the treatment did not involve surgery, but that didn’t make him lose interest in my case like most surgeons would. He is kind and caring and I’m so thankful to have found him.

There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to Dr. Garabekyan but there is one word that comes to mind when I think of him………” AMAZING”! I had already met with several Orthopedic Surgeons for my 20-Year-Old Daughter over the course of a year and a half and had narrowed it down to one Surgeon who came highly recommended in Ventura County. My introduction to Dr. G wasn’t planned. It was a chance encounter that his information was presented to me. After reading his Bio, I took a leap of faith and scheduled an appointment to meet with him. That first meeting completely changed our course and was all it took to take a different approach and put all our trust in Dr. G. I have never met a Doctor that was so involved with each case and patient that he worked with. Treating each patient as if they were his only patient. We never felt rushed at any moment we had with him and he always wanted to ensure that we fully understood the path that we were about to take. He listened to my daughter and took into consideration what her daily life was like and that her physical abilities played a huge factor in her life. He didn’t want to see any of her abilities limited at a young age. It has now been almost 4 months since her surgery and I do not have one regret choosing Dr. G. He personally checked on her the following days after the procedure and continues that same attentiveness that he gave us from Day 1. I am excited to see his practice grow and will continue to support him with any referral I can pass on to him. Dr. G., WE ARE FOREVER GREATFUL for everything you have done! Thank You!!!

I have been a professional dancer for over 10 years. I do a lot of high impact movement and tricks. After about 2 years of chronic pain I finally decided to see a dr. My shoulder got to the point that I couldn’t even bench press the bar with no weights on it at the gym anymore. I was lucky to have found Dr. Garabekyan. He discovered I had a torn labrum in my right shoulder and said I would need surgery. I was concerned that my dance career would be over, but surgery was really my only option. Fast forward about a year and a half later( today) and I am pain free. I almost lose no range of motion and I am back to doing all my old dance moves. I even threw an airflare at practice the other day (if you know what that is) I would definitely recommend him, especially if you are an athlete. He is a miracle worker.

I was looking for the best hip doctor in the Los Angeles area and I think I found the best one in the world. Doctor Garabekyan is one of the most sympathetic and compassionate doctors I have ever. Being in the medical profession for over 40 years I think I am a good judge of other doctors and I honestly don’t think you can find a better hip specialist in the country

"Dr. Garabekyan is the BEST. He’s caring, takes time to listen to you, and is truly a gifted surgeon. I’m now 6 months post-op from a labral repair and back to 100%. Thank you so much Dr. G!"

Dr. Garabekyan has been my Orthopedic doctor for well over a year now. He preformed a left hip arthroscopy last April on me, a right hip arthroscopy this past May, and I’m currently in recovery from a periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) on my left side (I will post an updated review once I’m fully recovered). I’ve been through quite a journey so far with my hips, and am still going through recovery, but I wanted to express my feelings about him at this point in my journey in hopes that someone else reads this and feels comfortable and confident in his work. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Garabekyan. From the moment I met him I immediately knew I had found someone who was actually going to help me try to figure out what’s going on with my hips and help me get my life back. So far, he has done exactly that and 100x more. I’ve never met a doctor who cares so much about his patients. He’s kind, patient, confident, knowledgeable, concerned, and everything in between. I’ve had a really tough couple years dealing with my hips, but if it wasn’t for Dr. G, I would have never been on the path to getting my life back that I'm on now. If only there were more doctors like him, the world of medicine would be a far better (and less scary) place. Hats off to him for what he does everyday, there is no better. Thanks for all you do Dr. Garabekyan, appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!

My new Ortho... (traveled from Idaho) I am a very "active" grandma of seven... It wasn't until after vetting four different Ortho's that I choose Dr. Garabekyan. I had bi-lateral labral tears in my hips and was in a lot of constant pain. I went to some of the "best" hip surgeons in LA and Beverly Hills. I left their offices feeling discouraged and not very confident. I sought out Dr. Garabekyan for his Arthroscopic Labral repair techniques (no perineal post) and recovery period. From my 1st visit where the tears were explained and the specific details for surgery were given, I was certain he was the right surgeon. He made accommodations for a prompt surgery due to the distance I would need to travel. Dr. Garabekyan gave me his cell number and kept me informed all the way through the process. He was kind enough to share all the details a second time with my husband. Surgery day came, Dr. Garabekyan came into the pre-op room sat with us for 15 minutes, went through the surgery details again, which was very reassuring. Surgery (on both hips) went very well and I walked same day, that was outstanding! He texted me daily to check on my recovery!! Wow! I felt like a VIP! Pain management/recovery: I was off narcotics within 24 hrs. Went on to Toradol for three more days, then to Ibuprofen from there. I used crutches for 1 week inside and two-weeks outside. PT started with bike riding twice a day; PT w/therapist started week 3. My PT was amazed and impressed with my recovery and the techniques that Dr. Garabekyan used. I definitely did my part, but truly believe that my recovery is and has gone so well because of the skills and expertise of my doctor. I am 6 weeks post-op and went for a two-hour beach bike ride in Santa Barbra with my grandchildren even after walking the zoo for two-in-a-half hours!! I am thankful that I listen to my gut and did my research! All my pre-surgery pain is 100% gone! I am pleased to highly recommend Dr. Garabekyan for any of your ortho needs!

He treated me when he was a resident at marshall orthopedics in huntington, wv. He was very rude, and with no bedside manner. He also did not treat my ankle and knees properly, so I had to request another doctor to treat my orthopedic issues. He also assisted In my left ankle surgery, however he made a medication error that almost overdosed me.
