My husband and I moved from Idaho for me to get treatment with Dr. G for my bilateral hip dysplasia and labral tears (scope + PAO), and we are certain that we could not have picked a better surgeon. He has completely redefined my outlook on healthcare; I never knew doctors could be this patient, involved, compassionate, and genuine. He is clearly an expert in his field and has been meticulous at every step of my care from pre- to post-surgery, always taking the time to explain, answer questions, and go the extra mile to ensure I feel listened to and supported. I have never once felt rushed or overlooked by Dr. G, and I know my family would wholeheartedly say the same. Surgery can be really scary to consider, but Dr. G will absolutely do his due diligence and more to make you feel supported and confident throughout the recovery journey. I’m back to doing two things I love - running and yoga! Had arthroscopy done on both of my hips now and I’m so happy. As long as you don’t have arthritis yet, this procedure is amazing if done properly, and this doctor is the best! > > 2022 > Look no further, this is the doctor you want to see for your hip issues. I saw Dr. G almost a year ago after running my 25th marathon and developing pain in my right hip, I really did not want to do surgery and he gave me options to see if this pain will go away with physical therapy and no running. After six months of no results, I went back to Dr. G and he showed me on the x-ray that hip arthroscopy would be the best choice to fix the problem. I went to other famous orthopedic surgeons in Santa Monica and West LA for second and third and fourth opinions. And it would be fine to choose one of them for the surgery but going with Dr. G felt like the right choice. The level of care and attention you get from this doctor is well above average! He’s meticulous, thorough and has the first-hand experience of this procedure as a Patient. Him being a runner himself gave me confidence I can return to the sport I love.. > His assistant Zohra is amazing, any questions - I get answers via emails promptly. The first surgeon I saw explained to me that I needed a PAO surgery and that not too many surgeons were doing it. He recommended me to Dr. Garabekyan. I made a lot of research with my parents and we all agreed that if I had to have this surgery, he would be the one doing it! Dr. Garabekyan explained everything to us, not leaving any unanswered question. The surgery took place 3 months ago. Dr. Garabekyan visited me everyday during my hospital stay! I still see him every 6 weeks; but as I prepare to go back to college, I can say that I am not in pain anymore. My scars are healing very well. Dr. Garabekyan monitors them every time I see him, making sure they are as minimal as possible. He’s the best! I was in denial of the seriousness of my hip pain. He was highly recommended by a friend. During my initial visit Dr. Garabekyan spent time explaining what was causing my hip pain and provided clarification of treatment options. We both knew that this would be a surgical case. He was patient enough with me to work on my schedule and not push surgery until I had time off from work. Now to Zohra, she is amazing! She found Dr. Garabekyan online and came to her dad and I (both physicians in Indiana) and asked if we could talk to him. At the time, I thought of the idea of going all the way to California to have the surgery was a long shot. I reached out to Zohra, who put us in contact with Dr. Garabekyan. He took the time to meet with my husband and I over the phone and answered all of our questions and concerns. He had a second meeting with our daughter to address all of her questions. We read his research and papers published on the CU-PAO and were convinced that he was who we wanted to do her surgery. With the way Dr. Garabekyan talks to his patients about the mechanics of the hip, we were assured that this is his passion and he is very skilled at what he does. Our daughter had a hip scope in late June of 2020 and her PAO a week later. Her recovery has been amazing and working with Dr. G was our best decision. I have never had a doctor spend so much time explaining in detail what was going on. Like a lot of doctors, they recommend bringing any prior images, etc. but rarely spend time reviewing . Dr Garabekyan took the time to review everything in absolute detail and explain based on the images what is likely going on. They were able to get me in quickly (less than a week) and clearly know how to run an office, as everything ran on time, and I seemed to be scheduled with enough time for him to spend with me. I had been having hip pain for about a year from a workout injury before I decided to go in. We did x-rays and I also ended up doing an MRI to get a closer, more detailed look at what's going on with my hip (it's a labral tear) and Dr. Garabekyan was able to describe to me exactly what's going on. I'm going to try doing physical therapy with someone he recommended and see if that helps fix the issue (fingers crossed). Otherwise, if a procedure is absolutely necessary I will be visiting again. He has changed my life. After experiencing many years of hip pain and immobility due to an unknown hip deformity, he was able to determine the cause, repair and reshape my hips. These past five years have been the most difficult in my life. I’ve gone through over 10-15 pelvic mris, failed numerous biologic meds, lost my career, and started to lose myself. I’m now able to walk longer periods without excruciating pain and limping. I suffer from psoriatic arthritis, but finding a solution to my hip problem has already given me hope for my future and that is a huge accomplishment in my book. In the last four months, he performed two surgeries on me: a hip replacement surgery on my right side, and arthroscopic surgery of my right knee. I've thus been through something of an ordeal: pre-surgery, surgery, post-op, in-home physical therapy, outpatient PT. Through it all, Dr. Garabekyan was a consummate professional, the best of the best, a veritable magician with the scalpel: minimizing scars and getting me back on my feet post haste. I now walk pain-free and glitch-free. Every time I walk, I am consciously grateful for the very fact that I'm walking. My gratitude extends gushingly to Dr. Garabekyan and his staff. He took the time to answer patiently my every question, and he allayed my qualms about the procedures, and his keen judgment gave me the confidence to go forward. I made the decision to drive all the way from the western-most part of LA Country to his office in Beverly Hill, even though LA traffic can back up and make like miserable. But it was worth it. I feel I had the best medical care in all of Los Angeles. Dr. Garabekyan spent as much time explaining things as needed, and his bedside manner exudes and inspires confidence.
