Dr. Khurana is a wizard! I was diagnosed with pretty bad spondylolisthesis and degenerative disc disease at L4/L5. My pain crept up on me quickly and would stop me in my tracks. Epidurals were no longer putting a patch on things and my pain doctor told me it was time to start shopping for a surgeon. Dr. Khurana was the first of 3 I met with and set my standard. He reviewed my imaging with me, told me what the problem was and gave me options: no treatment and what that would mean for me, a discectomy and what I could expect and for how long, and the XLIF. As a patient I don’t see the sense in delaying the inevitable for a less predictable outcome by doddling, but I really appreciated the option of doing nothing so I could understand the broad range of what I could choose to do. I met with 2 other surgeons after this and neither of them spoke as concisely or with the respect to help me make an informed decision based on their skill set and experience as Dr. Khurana. So I scheduled the XLIF with him, and the surgical center experience and recovery were far and away better than I could’ve imagined (and I’ve had more than my fair share of surgeries to compare). From my very first step after the surgery I was able to stand upright (no longer guarded from avoidant pain), 100% of my pain was gone, and I could walk without assistance as I expected from what you hear from other people who have a fusion. From my second day home I was back on my treadmill walking multiple times a day and I never took the pain pills because I didn’t need them. His minimally invasive technique meant less muscle trauma and an easier recovery; and the XLIF removed the damaged disc, restored my alignment and the ideal intervertebral space. I’m now 18mm taller…I can’t stop winning!! Dr. Khurana was out of network with my benefits so obviously I paid more out of pocket for all of this. However when I consider how well he did and how my outcome & recovery far exceeded my expectations, my lens sees what I paid as fair. I value what Dr. Khurana has done for me from his personal TLC, the removal of all of my pain which has lifted the emotional weight I was carrying trying to mask the pain, and making my recovery enviable to others who used another surgeon. I will forever be grateful for his contribution to improving my quality of life 🙏🏽

I went to see Dr. Khurana to talk about the low back pain I’d been having but while I was there he wanted to get x-rays on the two cervical disc replacements I’d had done 3 years ago. He found that one of them was failing. He got me in within a few days, removed the replacement and fused that level, feels great now but could have been bad news had he not been on top of things and ordered the x-rays. His attention to detail is second to none and his team and staff are always incredible!! There is no one I would trust more with my spine!!

Amazing surgeon, this is the man to trust your spinal health to. Staff is wonderful as well, Marineh was always so helpful. Had cervical disc replacement, 2 levels, and I'm about 16 months out now and doing great. Easy recovery especially compared to other procedures I've had. Dr. Khurana has more of a conservative approach which I appreciate, but he also has the knowledge to know when something will do better with surgery. His bedside manner is wonderful which isn't always the case with surgeons, and he takes his time to explain things thoroughly. Thanks Dr. K and team!

Not enough room to say all of the great things Dr. Khurana and his staff have done for me in the last several years. Multiple lumbar fusions, decompressions, reinstumentations, revisions, cervical disc replacement, the continuing care to get me out of pain. It's an ongoing process with severe degenerative disc disease but every level, every surgery is done with extreme caution and care, keeping what's best for me always in mind. Good people here and I won't go anywhere else!!

I am 4 days post-op from an XLIF performed by Dr. Khurana at the Commons Clinic. I am totally amazed how little discomfort I have following this procedure. From the time I started shopping for surgeons to address my spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis, Dr. Khurana was my favorite. His style is personal, concise and thorough. He reviewed my images with me, explained what the problem was and gave me several options (all with corresponding pros&cons) to help me make the final decision. I never once felt pressured or intimidated into moving forward. Once I agreed to the surgery his team took care of everything. Each team member has a role and they all excel at communication. There was not one surprise or miscommunication. The surgical facility itself is top notch, super clean and the team of nurses are compassionate and experienced. They took such great care of me following my surgery. Once home and on my own I had checkins from the post-op coordinator and Dr. Khurana himself calling to check on me. Each day of recovery is better than the day before, which is far and away better than how I was prior to this surgery. I cannot recommend Dr. Khurana any higher, he is a first class surgeon!

I visited Dr. Khurana for a 2nd opinion and in the process was won over to a new spine specialist. When my physical therapist recommended Dr. Khurana as someone I should get an opinion from, his was a name I’d heard many times over the years. He had a reputation as one of the top spine surgeons in the country. This was something I’d heard touted numerous times over the years. Selecting a doctor with Dr Khurana’s prominence to render a second opinion on a surgery I was scheduled to undergo was comforting to my unsettled mind. I was seeking confidence that the surgery I was about to undergo was appropriate. Alternatives approaches hadn’t been discussed and in the absence of such, I was left to assume surgery was my only option. I just didn’t know the degree of necessity. Was it absolutely necessary? Unsure as I was, I was racing toward another double ADR surgery. I already had double ADR surgery some years ago. Following through with the surgery as planned would render the majority of my cervical spine artificial. Was this even prudent? How many quadruple ADRs exist in the universe? What are the outcomes? I had questions and needed confirmation from another spine specialist that additional ADR surgery was my best course of action. Dr. Khurana analyzed my cervical imaging and surgical history. He reviewed his interpretations with me and my wife, provided us ample time to ask all the questions that had remained unanswered and in the end, it was Dr. Khurana opinion that I didn’t need surgery. Dr. Khurana explained his diagnosis and other more measured alternatives available to treat my case. My visit to Dr. Khurana was as relieving as it was revealing. I feel very fortunate to have turned to Dr. Khurana for answers. It was, in retrospect, a very good decision. Dr. Khurana may be a highly regarded spine surgeon, but he’s a good doctor because he understands the importance of communication and through it, connects. By comparison, It’s now obvious to me what I was missing in my relationship with my previous spine doctor – a human connection. In better hands, C
