I came to Dr. Hunt two weeks after undergoing an ALIF with another surgeon in LA. Unfortunately, I had been sent home feeling completely unprepared for what spine surgery—and, perhaps more importantly, the recovery afterward—would truly entail. I had received very little postoperative guidance, and it quickly became clear that I needed more support and direction during such a significant recovery. > > Dr. Hunt took me on as a patient just two weeks post-op, despite not having performed my surgery, and continued to oversee my recovery through my one-year-plus follow-up appointments and imaging. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about him. He put my mind at ease, answered my questions, gave me the guidance I desperately needed, and made sure I understood what to expect as my fusion healed. He is a class act and a true gentleman, and the way he cares for his patients speaks for itself. > > My only regret is that I did not consult with Dr. Hunt before my surgery and have him perform it himself. If you are reading reviews because you are considering spine surgery, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to choose a surgeon who will not only perform at the highest level, but also make sure you feel informed, supported, and cared for throughout the recovery that follows. I was referred for a very painful, complex, and difficult to diagnose cervical spine disorder. > Dr. Hunt was able to make the correct diagnosis, based on his physical examination, the meticulous history that he took, the imaging that he reviewed, as well as his extensive experience as an orthopedic surgeon . > He explained the reasoning behind his thinking, and explained how he came to the conclusion that he did. He answered all my questions fully. > The decision to proceed with immediate surgery was a collaborative decision between Dr. Hunt, myself and my spouse. > I had surgery the following day at Cedars-Sinai , with everything going uneventfully. Dr. Hunt saved my life. I suffered from 30 years of debilitating back pain. Eight compression vertebrae fractures. Six surgeries. Dr. Hunt recommended a Kyphoplasty procedure. For a long time I had severe pain in right hip and leg due to the pinching of the sciatic nerve between 4 and 5 vertebrae of the spine. Physiotherapy and multiple pain relief injections did not help me. On the advice of doctors Zalkinder and Kievsky I contacted with doctor Leonel Hunt for concultation. Doctor Hunt explained to me in great detail how the surgery would be performed to free the nerve from the pinching. On July 18th this year doctor Hunt did surgery of LUMBAR LAMINOTOMY/FORAMINOTOMY, after which pains in my right hip and leg disappeared. Now I can walk freely, do housework, I will be able to walk with my dog after full recovery and look to the future with optimism and hope.I thank doctor Leonel Hunt from my heart. I was suffering from an excruciating pain due to a torn disc that was pinching my nerves. My husband had called many surgeons in order to make an appointment for a potential surgery and all have given him sometimes within 2 months of wait. His staff was very kind after my husband was explaining how much pain I am suffering to email him as they were talking over the phone to see if he can see me soon. I was in his office 5 days after! It was obvious that he had studied my MRI images before coming into the room because he knew what exactly was wrong with me and spotted the areas I was suffering with pain.
