After a failed lumber decompression, I spoke with seven surgeons to discuss methods of a fusion (which I was determined to avoid if possible) or an alternative. Dr. Bae was the only one who suggested a revision and I am walking again.

Not sure why anyone who left bad reviews felt they needed to do so. I ended surgery after a vertebrae spontaneously collapsed. He took biopsies of that vertebra, and put in 4 screws and 2 rods attaching the adjacent vertebrae. Also did a vertebraplasty, where medical cement is injected into the collapsed vertebrae. The initial assessment was a one hour and 10 minutes surgery, but actual time was over 2 hours. I am extremely happy with Dr Bae. Two doctors I had consulted spoke very highly of him. And, if you check his background he has multiple awards for his work. I am flummoxed by the (few) negative reviews. One thing I can tell you is that Dr. Bar is very direct and straightforward. Some might read that as disinterested, but he spent a lot of time with me at my pre-surgery appointment, called me the night I was in the hospital, and insisted I come back in on day 3 for another follow-up meeting, and he has been very pleasant to speak to. Dr. Bae and his staff, Bernadette, Jasmine were exceptional people. They were extremely diligent and helpful in my c3 and c4 cervical disc replacement process from the beginning, to the end. Dr. Bae is a miracle worker and thanks to him, I’m finally able to sleep lying down instead of sleep sitting up due to numbness and pain. My pain is completely gone right after surgery, recovery for me was surprisingly quick according to friends who have had cervical disc replacement by other doctors. I received some pretty upsetting news about my back. I was told I would need a spinal fusion in the future. I was devastated, and immediately started researching alternatives. I learned about disc replacement and researched the top 36 doctors who perform this operation (in the US). After researching, I chose Dr. Bae to consult with - he had innovated in the area of disc replacement, his satisfaction rate was thru the roof, and he seemed very understated in his interview. I set up a consult and he was exactly as I expected! Confident, but not ego-forward. He told me I would be a great candidate for disc replacement, but that I didn't need one. He told me it was way overkill and gave me some ideas and suggestions for treatment if my back started really giving me problems. He also told me I was welcome to visit him at his practice anytime. He could have 'sold' me on surgery - but he didn't. If I ever do need any surgery or treatment in the future, I will definitely be back! Thank you, Dr. Bae!

Amazing surgeon and staff. We were able to get an appointment within days of calling. My husband was in really bad pain and unable to walk and Dr. Bae examined him and his MRIs and got him scheduled for surgery within days of our initial visit. The surgery was a success and my husband's on the way to recovery. Great follow up by the doctor and his entire staff. Highly recommend!!

One year ago I was diagnosed with severe spinal instability after I had already had an existing fusion. The doctor who had performed the fusion on me previously said that it would be far too complicated to operate and I would require a multilevel fusion this time. He declined to operate on me and told me to try to survive on epidurals. I subsequently talked to other doctors that told me the same thing and that it would require a 6 to 8 hour surgery with the potential for severe complications. At this point I decided that I simply could not continue to live under the circumstances with this level of pain and such a poor prognosis. I have heard about procedures such as Kofkex. I found my way to Dr. Bae performed Coflex and I thought it could be an option for me. After evaluating me for a very long time and my scans he explained I would not be a candidate for koflex but he was not certain that I should have a fusion either. He was very intuitive and said if I don't help you will this be a problem? I said yes meaning that Iwas making plans to take my life. He came up with a solution that no one had done before explained that he couldn't guarantee the results but it would involve not doing a fusion but a decompression and using bone graft material to stabilize the vertebrae. I had my surgery six days ago. Prior to the surgery I developed severe pain in my sciatic nerve down my right leg that no amount of pain medication could relieve and I fell twice. This morning I used my treadmill and feel fantastic! My legs are stable there is no pain except for the incision. There's no way to express my gratitude for not only Dr Baes skill but his compassion and kindness.His training is superior and unlike like any most orthopedist s he is humble and willing to listen to his patients needs. If you are needing an evaluation or surgery on your spine do not look any further. He is in a class all by himself .
